lame and predictable
This movie was just too formulaic for my tastes. It was Hollywood horror paint-by-numbers.The filmmakers pulled out every trick in the book, but that does not work for horror movie buffs like myself. Loud banging noises, the masks, the killers staring off into space, killers suddenly disappearing (one scene saw a girl touch a guy's shoulder and teleport down the street before he could turn around), heroine in the woods, heroine with a limp, old music on a record player, and on we go. The ending made no sense whatsoever. It took a horror movie staple reserved for the killer and assigned it to the victim.Basically, if you've seen a decent amount of horror movies, you've seen this one. I don't think anyone involved even tried to be original. If you're one that enters into a movie determined to be scared at cheap jump scares and nothing will deter you from said goal, you'll eat this up. If you hold the horror genre to a higher standard, hard pass on this one.

Not to mention Liv Tyler gives a wonderful performance as one of the main characters and I ...
This movie was tense and engaging, and I genuinely felt for the characters - who were all believably played. Not to mention Liv Tyler gives a wonderful performance as one of the main characters and I am baffled that she isn't in Amazon's 'starring:' billing.

Overrated, went nowhere, just jumpscares
I thought the Strangers would have been perfect of immersive horror, but the main characters severely lack any draw. Often I found my attention drifting away while nothing of substance was happening only to have an out of nowhere loud noise startle me. It's like this for the whole movie. When things start coming to a climax it wasn't tense, I didn't care about the main characters, and the movie has the gall to end on another jumpscare. If you think someone jumping out from behind a corner and blowing an airhorn is the pinnacle of horror/suspense then I guess you'll like this. The scary strangers theme was better done in that Kurt Russell movie Breakdown even though that movie wasn't horror nor did the bad guys win. But that's an example of how to generate suspense and helping the audience identify with the main characters. No need for deafening jumpscares to make things tense.

Excellent movie, truly and deeply scary
The suspense builds beautifully and pacing is flawless. As one gets to know the characters, minimally but on a very personal level, what they're already experiencing just as a matter of regular living creates great empathy. It's impossible not to care about them. That makes the entire film effective. I was a little worried about Liv Tyler, who in my previous observation has not been much of an actress, though charming, but this director got what may be a once-in-a-lifetime performance out of her. She carries a good deal of the movie and she does it believably and with wrenching emotional investment. An understated gem, 10/10.

Were these people trying to get killed or what?
So many stupid choices. So many missed opportunities. So many times of running instead of attacking. Splitting up? Really? There are several sadistic killers on the property, so the male lead runs off to the barn and tells the female lead "Stay here!" In a house with psychopaths randomly strolling around? Plus, you return from buying cigarettes for your girlfriend and she is adamant that they've been in the house. But you basically tell her she's nuts and wander around offering yourself up as a sacrifice despite the broken glass shards and general signs of pandemonium ensuing while you were away. Despite all of this ridiculousness, I do give the movie 3 STARS for still being somewhat scary.

I liked the ending best. because it was over!!! if you like to hear screaming and enjoy stories without any plot line, don't miss this one.

Very Creepy Movie that is Sure to Leave you Feeling Uneasy
This is one of the creepiest movies I've seen. The creepy factor is that these killers which are real, enjoy torturing people before killing them. Knowing this type of evil exists makes me even more supportive of our second amendment rights. I think that women are involved just adds to the creepy factor. The acting is well done but you can't help but feel frustrated at some of the dumb decisions that were made. However the frustration is also part of the excitement I guess. You will definitely not get bored watching this. Oh yeah and the music absolutely makes this terrifying. If I hear these tunes outside of this movie, it will give me a little bit of a startled feeling I'm sure.

Cheap Jump scares
Not much other than loud noises paired with jump scares. I imagine the people who get scared are the same ones who scream when a guy jumps out of a corner at a haunted house. They could have used their relationship or something to make more of what was the very thin story line. At least tell us why she said no, but nothing. There is not even any reason to be connected to these characters before their demise. So if you are into that then it is fine but I need more substance than that when I chose to watch horror films.

Beautiful for hardcore fans like me
I'm biased.I love the strangers and it's sequel and so it's nice to have something collectors as low budget horror films don't often get much. The extras are okay and there are some nice pieces but the real star is the booklet which is gorgeous and informative and completes the package nicely. Blu Ray transfer is okay, not stunning and, if I'm being honest, the could have thrown Prey At Night (the sequel) and made this a full compendium as there isn't going to be a third film. However, the film is great, understated and creepy and a fave of mine for many years.

The Strangers
I love this film, it feels good to own a great Blu-ray limited edition which you can tell they put some effort into. The picture quality is fab, as is the box and the goodies inside. There is however, a slight printing mistake in the booklet where a paragraph is repeated (but it doesn’t take anything away from a excellent release).

Fine Blu-ray set from Second Sight
Second Sight has done a nice job with this modern day horror classic. A Great Blu-ray disc; a poster and a good booklet in a fine slip-case. Impressive. I recommend this for fans of the film.

Awesome Horror
It is very hard to find good horror these days that genuinely scare you, but this is one. It is not blood thirsty, it does not need to be it makes you jump and your palms sweat as the camera pans around the room and you see someone standing un-noticed in the background or then there's a knock at the door but know one is there! Fully recommend.
