I was excited to try this service, unlimited text messaging for such a low price! Unfortunately it was too good to be true. The item description says "You can chat free and without any limits with WhatsApp, Messenger, WeChat, LINE, QQ and all other instant messaging Apps". Notice that last bit there.. **and all other instant messaging Apps**. That is not true, once you purchase it and try it you'll find out that it only works with a subset of "compatible instant messaging Apps". I checked their website and they have a blog post dated 05 MARCH 2015 and they explicitly list Hangouts as one of the supported apps. Yet another disappointment because Google Hangouts does not work and when I emailed support they claimed it wasn't on the compatible list.Finally, I was also very unhappy with the website. The English language text is so confusing it could have only come from a translator app.On a positive note -> The registration process was easy and the sim card actually worked for Facebook Messenger.

Got this ChatSIM Unlimited SIM Card to put in an old iPhone 3GS. Not traveling to foreign countries (sorry, but not going to CUBA like most of those other bad reviews talk about here). Only want to use this ChatSIM in the United States on an old iPhone 3GS to be able to do WhatsApp when have no WI-FI internet without having to pay for another monthly cellular plan. Bought this ChatSIM for twenty-five dollars and received it in a few days. The ChatSIM had a +44 UK number on it -- although the ChatSIM company is apparently based in Italy. Activation and Registration was easy but has one Gotcha Surprise that may catch those in USA as a surprise. You input the SIM card numbers, your name, your address, your mobile (cell) number. The Gotcha Surprise is that you have to upload a picture copy of an ID Card or Driver's License. Providing an identification card is apparently a requirement for getting a SIM Card in Europe and elsewhere. Uploaded a quick picture of a work ID card in the Activation/Registration pages and then the ChatSIM was activated. Since was using this in the USA, the ChatSIM took a long time to be activated on AT&T -- although perhaps do not be surprised if it activates on Tmobile depending on your location. You will have to set the cellular data on your phone to roaming and you will have to set the APN to "chatsim". You should also specifically turn off data for each of your other non-messaging apps on the phone to not use up what little actual data that you get with ChatSIM. the ChatSIM website information in the terms and conditions seems to indicate that you only get 5 megabytes of data per day. that should be enough for texts via Whatsapp -- but you may want to be on WIFI internet whenever you want to send and receive pictures. For Whatsapp, you may therefore want to go into the settings in Whatsapp to set Media Auto-Download for Images (pictures), Audio, Videos, Documents to all be only on Wi-Fi. You can buy Multimedia Recharges on the ChatSIM website to have more data to get pictures while you are only on ChatSIM data when you have no WI-FI internet around. This is one area where people in other reviews here on Amazon seem to not realize that you only have very little data on ChatSIM and you cannot use your other apps on that data because if you do, then ChatSIM may cut you off and probably cancel your ChatSIM usage. Note that if you have Android, that your android phone may suck the data dry if you do not lock down the data usage on the phone. Same for iPhone particularly if you have a lot of apps that may use data on the iPhone. For my old iPhone 3GS, really only have a few apps downloaded from the App Store and therefore any data usage should be limited to Whatsapp. Haven't tried ChatSIM on the iPhone's iMessage texting yet. But so far satisfied with ChatSIM. If you have an old unlocked iPhone that you want to get working again, then check out this ChatSIM SIM Card -- but note the caveats with the limited data amount which should be enough for daily Whatsapp texting without pictures (unless if you buy Multimedia Recharges; and of course you can go hog wild with pictures on Whatsapp if you are on WIFI internet). Tried iMessage on ChatSIM and it works. But had to activate iMessages on another SIM card that can really send actual SMS texts. Could not activate iMessages on ChatSIM because ChatSIM will not let you SEND actual SMS texts. So, take the ChatSIM out of the iPhone and put a regular SIM card in the iPhone, and then activate iMessages in the iphone's Settings App (Settings|Messages|iMessages). Once you have activated iMessages, then make sure that settings say that you can send & receive on your email address (with a checkmark by your email address) because that is the only way that iMessage texts will be sent on ChatSIM. Then put the ChatSIM back into the iPhone and iMessage should then work on ChatSIM for both sending and receiving iMessage texts with other people on iPhone. After you put the ChatSIM back into the iPhone, you may again have to set cellular data to roaming and also have to set the APN to "chatsim". Note that you will see the Message app on iPhone will send the iMessage texts in blue text bubbles. (NOTE: the SENDING of regular cellular SMS texts would be in green text bubbles in the Messages app on iPhone.) So, the trick to sending and receiving iMessage texts on iPhone when on ChatSIM is to first activate iMessage on a different SIM card, and then put ChatSIM in the iPhone, and then you will be able to send and receive iMessage texts on ChatSIM.P.S.S. iMessage is now failing on ChatSIM. Apparently, iMessage is still trying to confirm activation on the ChatSIM telephone number. So that's going to fail. So, iMessage may ultimately fail on ChatSIM. However, iMessage may still work on WIFI Internet. This may be good because of the pictures that you may get in iMessage that may be better to get on WI-FI internet instead of on ChatSIM data.

This new and improved version of the chatsim is supposed to block most non-chat related data usage. In reality, it doesn't work that well.The company knows it and recommends the user to block all data use of background apps and manually stop all data use for all apps. I did block all data use of background apps but didn't bother to do the latter. After a couple of days, I received an SMS telling me that I have been using data for non-chat app, probably because I called up some game app or look up the cached map on google map and the sim card was not able to block their data usage. So if you don't want to be cut off (they will stop your card if there is too much data usage), you have to remember to turn off data whenever you use any non-chat app.I think the company should write a small app that with 1 tap automatically disable all data for all non-chatted app on the phone. It will make the product much more usable for non-techie.
