Heartstrings

The only thing wrong with this album is that it's only nine songs. Other than that, it's basically perfect. Meester's lyrics are poetic and thoughtful, her vocals are sweet and soft like a vocal caress, and the production is slick and layered. The last three tracks, Dreaming, Blue Afternoon, and Entitled anchor the album beautifully and are in my opinion the standout tracks. "Good For One Thing" is funny and clever. "Sweet" is sexy.Musically, the album is similar to To Venus and Back/From the Choirgirl Hotel era Tori Amos. The production evokes a touch of Lana del Rey. Vocally, Meester reminds me of Jewel, with a high sweet tone and a heavier lower tone, the former of which is most used on the album.I would really encourage anyone who enjoys female singer/songwriters to check out this album. Don't be turned off by Meester's Robin Thicke-laden pop past or her turn in the vapidly awful series Gossip Girl (she was great in it, but the show was a mess). This isn't the Leighton Meester you'd expect. This album represents sophisticated, ethereal dream pop with a slight country folk twang at moments. This is the kind of music we need from pop music in 2014. Meester's album was a long time coming, but completely worth the wait.

I am very impressed with this! I always thought of Leighton Meester as an actress, but she has a very soulful, non-mainstream voice that is just great. I am looking forward to hearing more from her, I am disappointed that her album didn't do as well as it should have, but I think she is just great as a singer and songwriter. I will be following her music career, as I think she definitely has what it takes to succeed in her music alone. If anything, her acting (mainly Gossip Girl) probably made people judge her before they listened to her music (or didn't even listen to it at all. It really is a great song, and it is definitely worth a listen to judge for yourself.Leighton has such a great, unusual voice and it is so different from the pop stuff you hear on the radio today, it is a welcome change. Can't wait to hear more from her!

I cannot say enough positive things about this album. I was extremely hesitate to listen to it because I've heard countless albums by actors turned singers and almost none of them live up to my expectations. I'm so glad I was wrong. I love every single thing about this album from the lyrics to the production to Leighton's beautiful tone. Her music has so much meaning and depth. The best songs are "Blue Afternoon" , "Entitled", and "Dreaming". My only complaint is that I wish there were more songs. I could listen to this album every single day and never tire of it. This is the best album of 2014 and the best album, debut or otherwise, that I have heard years! No mainstream artist can touch what Leighton has done.

This albums is hands down AMAZING ..... you want a Great pop album , look no further Leighton just blows me away with her songwriting .......i must admit i was shocked ....... I am also VERY impressed with the sound of this album , it just sounds great cranked up , so much space , very moody ..... and the players on this are amazing , great singing /playing ,Great producer ........this is a MUST OWN for people that like pop with some depth .

I've always been a Leighton Meester fan, and I'm so amazed at her beautiful voice. A lot of artists nowadays sound crappy live but very nice on CD. She sounds great in both. Although it doesn't have as many tracks as we are used to, the ones there are well written and well sung. Her voice is fantastic. I have my fingers crossed for another CD from this talented woman.

Time to sing again Leighton Meester. We miss your voice. We miss your songs. So beautiful. Please!

Just okay, I was expecting a lot more. Most of the songs sound the same to me.

Llegó en tiempo y forma, de echo llegó un día antes de lo esperado. El disco es nuevo, llego cerrado y bien cuidado. Tenía muchas ganas de tener este disco que lamentablemente no se encuentra disponible en formato digital en Spotify y iTunes, además es muy difícil encontrarlo en físico en tiendas. Aquí tuve la suerte de encontrarlo y además a un precio muy bueno. Leighton Meester tiene una voz increíble y todas las canciones de este disco son bastante buenas!!

Poderia ser melhor embalado por ser um produto extremamente frágil.

Leighton Meester is an enthralling southern beauty with real talent, passion and soul! She's showed to us her singer abilities at Country Strong movie and soundtrack and here, at her first solo album shows to us more: real songwriting talents and superb sophisticated presentation! I think, she's such a good actress like Reese Witherspoon; such a good (and beautiful) model like Karlie Kloss; and almost so good songwriter and singer like Taylor Swift! :) The last statement is not serious, but Miss Meester made a really amazing album with honest emotions, which enchant me, every time, when I listen to her songs. When I wrote these rows, I was drunk, but I was totally true indeed. This album is recommended for hopelessly romantic souls and daydreamers! Personal note: I would really like, when she sing a duet with Taylor Swift sometime...
