Toro 105-3040 Recycler Rear Wheel Gear Kit

My Personal Pace Toro was having issues with the rear wheels locking up when I pulled it backwards. So I figured I’d give this a try. It was an easy fix.Remove the rear wheels, the locking washers, the gears, keys and springs. Cleaned up the axel and reinstalled the new hardware and the rear wheels. I did put a little dab of grease on the springs, keys, and inside the gears. It works perfectly now. Remember to put the gears on the axel the same way they came off. Before putting the wheels on ensure the gears rotate forward - towards the front of the mower. If they don’t, they are backwards; turn them around.I can’t imagine what that would have cost at a repair shop but this was very easy to do. My 14 year old mower will probably last another 10 years now. Or until I hit the submit button…IF you have this issue with your Personal Pace Toro, try taking the wheels off, then get to the keys and springs; they may be grimy and not functioning properly. Take them out, clean them and re-grease them and it should work. If not you may need new springs and keys. IF the mower is able to propel forward like normal but locks up when you pull it backwards. Sometimes, if you push it forward a few inches (without the self propels help) then pull backwards, it will release the key and allow the axel to spin freely. This could be a sign you need to clean the keys and springs because they aren’t moving freely. Any other issues and it could be the belt or tranny. This won’t fix that.Happy mowing!

It seems to work fine the parts fit and seem to be of high quality. It took over a week to get them for some reason Amazon is taking a week or more to deliver stuff when I pay for 2 day shipping.

The items were an exact replacement for missing and/or broken parts, and were essential for a complete re-build of the drive system of my 19 year-old Toro. The mower now works like new and should be far more durable then the newer Toros that have plastic gears on the rear wheels, that wear out after a few cutting seasons. Which is why I opted to do the repair.So if you're handy I strongly recommend buying the parts and doing the repair. You'll have something that is far more durable than what the manufacturer is peddling these days; and at a substantially lower cost.

The wheels are exactly what I needed and were made of same metal gears. I also bought the washer pinion gear set which was also to specs. Installed fine , no more slipping all set for spring.

I did not need every single part in this kit, but considering it have everything and the price was right. I got it.Make sure when you install the gear that whichever side you are working on that the "L" or the "R" to indicated Left or Right side is facing OUT/AWAY from the lawnmower. This is etched on the side of the gear. This will help align the gear in the correct position.Orient yourself BEHIND the lawnmower to know which side is the LEFT/RIGHT.I was also unaware that the spring needed to be replaced. Had to get a small pick to clean out the old sprint and the hole and ridge of gunk.
