I’ll be honest, I expected this item to be pretty flimsy and cheap for the price, so my expectations were low. I was very pleasantly surprised at not only the weight and sturdiness of the handle, but also the sharpness of the blade. It’s actually angled and kinda sharpened, and it opens pieces of mail with ease.Out of curiosity, I did try to open a package with it, but that didn’t work very well. So, I recommend the item but only for opening letters and not tape. lol

After surgery Physical Therapists had no problem using this to show 86 year old how to be independent and open her own mail when she went home. Lightweight, not too sharp, was able to open standard envelopes and light weight packages.

The envelope opener seems like it is going to work just fine. The problem? It nearly took getting out the skill saw to open the package. As a senior citizen it is hard enough to open a variety of packages, but this was horrible. Finally using a pair scissors and pliers I was able to pry apart. Buyer beware the package is going to make you work for it. If you are a senior citizen who has lost some hand strength or have arthritis., I recommend you keep looking.

I ordered two letter openers to replace one I had that broke. I ordered this one, and one made by Westcott. The Westcott one was, in my opinion, far superior. I felt like this one had a blade that was too long, making it a little bit unwieldy to use. I also thought that it did a poor job of actually slicing open the letters/envelopes, and was weighted oddly, something that contributed to how it just didn't work for me. It's such a small product and a relatively small outlay of money, but I honestly regret spending the money on this one. My recommendation is to skip this product and try another brand.

This does exactly what I need it to. Opens letter effectively. No more paper cuts for me! Be careful though of what may be inside. Someone sent us a check, and it was folded just right to be cut in half when I used the letter opener to open the envelope. That was a chance occurrence. Keep out of the reach of little ones in a safely locked drawer. It is pointy and definitely not a “toy” you want them to run around with in their hands.

The letter opener works as intended, but could be a bit sturdier. I would recommend the product.

I like that it’s very sturdy and it has a thick easy to hold handle. My old letter opener was all metal and hubby used it to de clog our shredder.. it shredded the metal rendering it dangerous to use. I found this one and I liked it and ordered two..I really like them. They open the mail easily and smoothly. And the color is easy to find in the mess of pens n pencils..

The cutting edges is so dull you end up tearing thru the paper.
