Humble bee
I bought this thinking it was a book about bees. It is actually a scientific paper which has been digitally scanned into book form. There are references to illustrations but they are not there but the reference text is placed within paragraphs and disrupt the text making it a difficult read. The front page clearly states how the book has been made and that it has been automatically proof read but sadly Amazon did not put this on the sales blurb. At £15 I think this is poor value and had I realised what the book was like I would have tried to return it before I gave it as a present to my husband.

Excellent book about the Wonderful Bumble Bee
This book is very interesting and informative. It is written clearly by the author who makes the subject very comprehensible to the reader.

Fascinating historic work on Bumble Bees
A superb book beautifully written by F. W. L. Sladen and originally published in 1912.The book discusses the 26 species of true and cuckoo bumble-bees native to the UK, using a number of line drawings, black & white photographs and coloured plates.Sladen's fascination and dedication to these insects is clear and inspiring throughout and the depth of his studies is obvious but in no way overstated. The resulting book is also wonderfully readable. The book includes a facsimile of the then 16-year old Sladen's first publication, stencil-copied and bound by himself in 1892.All in all, a real pleasure to read, for anyone with a passing or greater interest in bumble-bees.
