Farm Tuff 7 gallon fountain
This it is a good idea for those of us who are not mega poultry farmers but do have more than 2 dozen chickens, this is something we need. Specially with summer weather, this is a great idea for our chickens having plenty of water all day long. The negative of this; 1st. in order to fill this with 7 gallons of water you literally have to hold your finger on the water outlet to fill it! 2nd. after the first time we used it, it would not hold all the water. The ONLY instructions this has are on the bottom of the twist lid that says to " use vegetable oil around the O ring". Even when you do this you have to fidget with the top to get it to stop leaking all your water out! This product needs tweaking because it is absurd to make us have to keep plugging the spout to fill the container with water every time we use this and then to just have all the water drain out no matter how the cap is screwed on. If you purchase this I hope it works for you better than it did for us. After repeated tries to work with this, and believe me we wanted to keep this but we ended up having to return it. I hope you find this helpful.Revision 10/12/15 After purchasing a 5 gallon model from our local TSC store, it came with a screw on cap for the spout. This closes the tray spout so you can fill the container. We use vegetable oil on the very large "O" ring to fill the water. Once you do this it causes a vacuum seal that keeps the water from completely draining out once the trough fills with water. This creates enough back pressure to stop the water flow. Rhonda Davis is right, if you over tighten the cap, it is VERY difficult to open. Use a broom handle for leverage if this happens to you. Slide it threw the handle and twist. ( I don't know why my picture is shown upside down )

Finally, we can go away overnight.
You have to get the lid incredibly tight in order to seal it. So tight that my wife has trouble opening it to fill it.Other than that, it's good. Keeps about 80 chickens going for a couple of days.

Holds a lot
It's a little tricky figuring out just how tight to make the black top but otherwise good, sturdy waterers.

Not right
I am not sure what the issue is but the waterer collapses and has since day one We have several of these with no problems at all.

Run don't walk from this, the vacuum seal breaks no matter what you do and they run dry when you least expect it.
I bought 5 of these thinking they'd be the answer to my dreams, a way to not have to water the chickens every day. We have 5 flocks of 10-50 birds and this was to be their main water sources (each flock has two sources). Bottom line, after 3 months of fiddling with them they simply can NOT be trusted to hold water. The vacuum breaks intermittently and all the water pours out anywhere from 15-50% of the time (varies by the gasket I suspect) Some of them only leaked out once or twice, while others almost always run dry and flood the coop...with 7 gallons of water, which creates a mess.I oiled the seals and tried several variations of "tightness". The last straw was today when two leaked totally dry in the same day, I have given up and and throwing them in the recycling bin...$230 down the drain, this product is awful - avoid it at all costs.
