I don't like to give five star reviews because there's always something that could be better. There is very little that could be done to improve these grilling planks. They are, indeed, maple and give a distinctive smelling smoke. They are the right thickness to transmit heat but not burn through too quickly. No splinters. Convenient dimensions.The one place where they fall short is that they are not quarter sawn, so they bend considerably during use. I grilled brie on one and it arched enough for me to lose a bit of cheese. If you pay attention to the grain, you can get it to bend into a concave shave, which will keep more of your food from falling off.I will probably buy again because quarter sawn maple is too dear to burn.

These planks are terrific for grilling and the flavor is wonderful. I get two uses out of one plank if the first use doesn't gum it up too badly.Did a hunk of tri-tip on one tonight over charcoal with some mushroom, onion slices and bell pepper. Best meal I've had in a month.

Was a gift and their feedback was that the planks are quite thin.

I use these places to make smoked old fashioned drinks- the flavor is a little weak.

These are quality! Just wish they were cheaper.
