More user friendly setup for kids, compared to grip shifters.

Replaced a set of those awful twist-grip shifters on my wife's mountain bike. These rapid shifters are much more precise, and far easier to live with. If you're a novice like me they'll take a couple of hours and several YouTube videos to fit, but it's relatively straightforward if you prep first.All the bits are in the box already, so that's the brake triggers with integrated shifters & cables, brake casings and cables, cable ends and casing ferrules. The shifter cables are pre-installed already, but you'll need to fit the separate brake cables into their triggers. One other thing to consider buying is new handlebar grips (12.5cm ones), because if you're replacing old twist grip shifters these do have have shorter grips. Do also bear in mind that you'll have to cut the tube casings to size, so they match the lengths on your old brake & shifter casings, so again check-out YouTube for some ways of getting a clean cut on these.The shifters have a lovely, precise action to them once adjusted properly. The Amazon details don't mention it, but the box does state these are SIS shifters (i.e. indexed for smooth up & down shifts), and they'll work on other brands of derailleur as well as Shimano ones - mine's a Shimano TZ21 7-speed freewheel for reference.For thirty quid they're an absolute bargain. Easy 5 star.

These shimano gear /brake levers are fantastic . They work so easily making gear shifting greatly improved over the twist grip gear type . Well worth the investment on any bicycle . All cables supplied and a genuine lovely product . Honestly , buy these items and enjoy riding your bicycle even more with these shifters fitted . The brake levers are comfortable to use . The combine brake and gear lever also look better on the bars than having separate brake the gear mechanisms . Totally 100% prefect . 👍

I like the feel of the mechanism with gear changes. Preferred the design of the original ST-EF51 but as they are no longer available (unless you purchase cheap chinese copies) these are the direct replacement. Usual Shimano quality. Straight swap for my old ones and very easy to do. No special tools required either. Worth the extra to get originals :). All in all, a great buy

Amazing value on these Shimano shifter/brakes. Apart from the tools to do the job everything you need is in the box - shifters, cables and outters. Product feels solid and well made.
