The camera actually looks nice, and it supports both Wi-Fi and Wired network connections; when so many cameras only support Wi-Fi, this is a big plus. However, there are a few major issues that I can only give it a 3-star rating.(1) The camera does not automatically adjust to the brightness. With the default setting, it will become completely white if the scene is too bright.(2) The alarm recording feature is seriously crippled:- You cannot specify how many pictures to upload to FTP, nor the frequency of uploading.- It can only upload / email image snapshots, but not video clips. I managed to configure it with CameraFTP service, and the fast upload speed is about 1 image/12 seconds- It cannot continuously upload images, not to mention video / audio to FTP server.Other than these, it is fine. I also tested with CameraFTP's VSS software, which can connect to the video stream and record video clips to the cloud.

I would give this 0 stars if I Amazon would allow it. First of all it was used. All the cables were just thrown in the box and the user manual had been written on. I went ahead and tried to hook it up and I never could get connected. I know how to set up cameras as I installed a 16 camera system on the outside of my house. Attached is a picture of how this item was packed. I opened the box and saw this mess. Totally unacceptable.

Pretty amazing budget IP cam. I mean the picture quality is OK but pretty much a steal for its price. I bought two and they both work well. Anyone using a Blue Iris system who wants to add some more cams its a great deal. I mean you want high end stuff at places where HD matters like people faces and license plates, but for animals or just watching for packages, this does the trick.

This is my 2nd of this CAM. First time, I made the mistake of buying a used/refurbished. Now that my new one is set up, I'm good to go. The quality is amazing. Set-up and viewing the playback of videos can be a challenge and have errors which I am still working through.

I have had this camera for about a year and it now gets way too hot and makes a bad smell now since it is getting to hot. My camera always had an issue with looping recordings where once the memory card was full it would stop recording even though I check the box to loop once memory was full.

Just bought one of these, and set it up today.The good:- Price is right.- The picture quality is terrific. The interface on my Android smartphone lets me select various resolutions (I'm running over WiFi of course) and the HD is excellent for wireless.The ... less than good:- Software setup: I'm an IT guy, but setup was not all that straightforward. The UID that must be entered on the smartphone during setup is read from the back of the unit, and the printing thereon is so small I had to take a macro-mode photo with my digital camera and zoom it in to read it on my computer, then dictate it into my smartphone. Later I discovered that the another button on the smartphone software allowed me to scan the UID using the phone's camera, but that was an hour later. Not documented in the "quick start" instructions that came in the box.- Physical engineering: the 5V supply receptacle on the back is so close to the mounting receiver that the plug interferes with the mount! My installation parameters were very tight and it was very difficult to aim the camera where I needed it because the power plug pushed back into the mounting arm. The whole trouble could have been prevented by locating the 5V DC receptacle toward the top or bottom of the unit. (Little things!!!)- Software interface (disclaimer -- I make my living at this): the software is bare-bones. Be prepared to hunt and peck. The smartphone software is adequate but the Windows software ("IPCam Viewer"), which is the interface I need the most, leaves much to be desired. The fonts and icons are so small as to be nearly useless, even with 3.0 reading glasses. Adding a camera should be a lot easier -- if an invalid UID is entered, it should say so, instead of doing nothing. Two hours wasted getting this interface working.

The picture on this camera was pretty good but the set up was just terrible. I was trying to set up the wifi on it. Never worked. The camera would only work if the camera was plugged directly into my router. Sadly I have to return it since I need to have it wireless.

Great when it worked which was 50/50. The app gives an option to reconnect which does nothing. Not acceptable as a security camera if you can't count on it to be turned on. I've since returned it.
