Mrs. Byrne's Dictionary of Unusual, Obscure, and Preposterous Words Hardcover – September 1, 1974

I have always loved words and the stranger the better. Mrs. Byrnes Dictionary is a delight for any language aficionado. The only thing I wish is that it would give details on the origins of the words. I was a little disappointed that it doesn't do that. Still, it's a great list of unusual words to add to you vocabulary and to spice up your conversations with.

I've owned a copy of the now out of print dictionary for decades. It is a must have addition to one's library and makes a delightful gift. Skip the nonsense. Buy a new copy direct from Amazon.

Best dictionary ever! All sorts of obscure words that are fun to use!

Fun to read.

This book will give you hours of distraction! Many entries will bring a smile to your lips, others will say, "Why didn't I think of that!"

If you play"Dictionary" this is the perfect book. If you don't it is still great entertainment

Interesting and fun words you don’t hear everyday. Definitely a fun read!

I first got a copy of this book in the late 80s as a birthday gift from a Scottish friend. I loved it! I have bought a number of additional copies second-hand while they are still around to give out to friends and family members who I suspect will appreciate the quirkiness of the books and the words contained therein.

The book was 2 days late arriving but having looked at it, it is an excellent book if you like unusual words absolutely amazing
