Worth every penny for the traveller in this fascinating land
I totally agree with the previous reviewer. This map is essential for their detail of the landscapes in the heart of the archipelago. The Whereas the 1:50k version is useful for planning routes as it covers more of the islands for exploring the land itself this 1:25k version is a delight, showing paths, stone walls, and the intricate coastline (if that is an appropriate term where land and sea are so mixed together).

These are the best maps in the world
You simply cannot be OS maps for accuracy, clarity and detail - if you are going wlaking on the Uists - buy this map. Nuff said. However I may as well take the opportunity to encourage anyone reading this to visit the Uists. South Uist is a wild and beautiful place. The west coast is low and flat and has endless long white sandy beaches. The East coast is very wild and dramatic , being uninhabited and only reached by boat or a long walk over the mountains. South Uist has the highest point of the chain - Beinn Mhor along with its two neighbours Ben Corodale and Hecla. Climbing the 3 makes for a spectacular days walking with stunning views over the mountains, the watery landscape, across to the distance mainland and west to the even more distant St. Kilda. It's an amazing place
