Easy & tidy installation fits single-gang box, provides a warm glow
These stair lights fit sideways mounted Carlon Single Gang Boxes and run off of 120v AC line power -- the ultimate in flexibility, since no low voltage transformer is required. Three have been in continuous outdoor service for about a year, running on a photoeye, and they're holding up extremely well with no outages, flickering, or chipped paint. Two other outdoor rated LED fixtures we considered were from American Lighting, $85 and Royal Pacific, $25 , but we preferred the non-louvered look of the WAC light.First, some installation notes: - This fixture does not play well with adjustable wall boxes due to the adjustment screw and plastic moulding that protrudes into box interior. One of our three installation locations was into one of these, and I used a Dremel to cut and grind away the necessary clearance. **This type of box may work with less fuss if the box is mounted with the adjustment screw mounted at the bottom edge, but in my tests, there was still interference in the last quarter inch of insertion. - The white mounting bracket has two unneeded "ears" on it, designed (I think) for use with WAC's vertical mount step light. Cut at least one of these ears of (again, Dremel & cut-off disc) to prevent it from restricting your ability to push the wires back into the box during installation. (see my photo attached to this review) - The light does not come with the screws necessary to affix the mounting bracket to the wall box. You'll need either 8-32 x 3/4" (or 1") for plastic boxes, or 6-32 x 1/2" for metal. Countersink or Oval heads preferred, to prevent the bump of the screw head from interfering with the light fixture. Of course, the holes on the mounting bracket are not countersink drilled, so you'll need to pick up a countersink bit to handle this detail yourself. (see attached photos) - Thankfully, this light comes with push-in wire connectors. No wire twisting is necessary, which is almost a requirement, because there's very little room left in the box for the wires once the fixture is in place. These 3-port connectors allow an extra port for the light to be wired in series. - Speaking of wires, make sure your supply wires are sticking out of the box ABOVE the mounting bracket. If you bring them under the mounting bracket, there will be wires trapped between the fixture and bracket, obstructing a full seat. - The installation instructions referenced rubber seals (o-rings) that fit around the fixture mounting screws. I didn't find them in the kit, so unless they were pre-installed on the holes, I'm not using this extra layer of protection. But these screws are so well protected from the elements that I'm not concerned about them becoming a water entry point. - In spite of the provided stick-on rubber seal included in the box, WAC recommends using silicone caulking around the perimeter to keep water intrusion in check. For me, this was a given due to our rough stucco exterior, but it sounds as though the manufacturer is advising this for wood and concrete as well. For what it's worth, the innards of the fixture are all completely enclosed and presumably sealed. In use, I find these to provide a good circle of usable light. Ours are mounted at three different heights due to careless planning/placement while setting forms or our concrete foundation wall. I find the one about a foot off the step provides very good light for about three steps, with good light cast out nearly three feet from the wall. If I were planning for these from the start, I'd go with one fixture for every 5 stairs (or fixture placement every 5 steps apart), and no more than 1 tread away from either the first or last tread of any section. I'd plan for mounting heights of 16 inches.I also found that, even when installed in an area lighted with wall-mount porch lights, the absence of a step light (even right under the porch light) stands out as a dark spot. If I had a "do over," I would have continued these all the way to the top of the stairs, with no regard for porch light placement.Based on my relatively positive experience with these fixtures, they're a heavy contender to use on our interior stairs, too.

Stylish. Expensive. Bright. Good build quality. Expensive. Did I mention it's expensive???
Stylish. Expensive. IP66 rated means it can be used near pools and hoses, etc. outdoors. Quite bright. Dimmable. Theoretically replaceable LED bulbs. Good warranty. If you plan to use this indoors, plan on also purchasing a suitable LED dimmer. It's quite bright.Good brand, and very good fit-and-finish. Installation is a bit tricky. You will definitely want the deepest junction box you can find / fit in your application. Search YouTube; there are a few good videos that demonstrate the slight installation challenges you will encounter.

excellent product
I bought the WAC WL-LED100-C-WT rectangular scoop step light to be a permanent replacement for inexpensive night lights that I'd been plugging into receptacles in our hall to light the way to the bathroom (or wherever at night). Unlike the night lights I had, this light barely protrudes from the wall at all. It's surprisingly bright for a night light, but at my request my electrician installed it on a dimmer so I can control the brightness. My electrician liked it a lot too (he'd never seen this model before) but he's seen more lights than I have so his approval seems worth noting. I wanted LED to keep electricity costs down and also so I wouldn't need to replace the bulb anytime soon (but I believe the bulb is replaceable - don't have the specs handy so can't guarantee this - but bulbs aren't replacable on the night lights that I'd been using.

Great quality. Too Bright.
Great quality, nice weight aluminum housing. I'd give it 5 stars if it wasnt so incredibly bright. For my stairs indoors, i needed to get an LED dimmer and dim them almost the whole way down on the dimmer. Otherwise these things are blinding. They'd be great for outdoors if you really want to light a large space, but for me, these are simply ambient lighting.

Great look!
We loved the look of the fixture and we used for under counter lighting on an outdoor grill station. The 120 watts was too bright for our needs & use so we put packing tape over the light-you can't see & the lights don't get hot. Tape worked great to decrease the brightness. I would have brought a less bright light for the grill station had I known their degree of brightness for our project which may not have been an intended use for these lights... but it all worked out wonderfully!

Clean looking light
Installed in firepit bench during construction. Used single-gang metal boxes from HD and added an extender onto each box for increased depth that aided with bulky hardware design, and just makes it easier to stuff wire and finish. Used an LED dimmer from HD, works great, no flickering. Not too bright even on max.

Already dead after only a month of use.
The finish and look of the product is top notch. The quality of the electronics, really questionable.I purchased 5 of these, one is already dead after only a month of use (about 3 hours per day).

Product was used and damaged
I was very disappointed. The item was clearly used. One wire was broken. There was paint on the edges. I would have returned, but my project was delayed and my electrician did not open the package until 6 months after delivery. Very disappointing.
