Not bad but confusing at times
This was sometimes confusing. Basically, it was difficult to ascertain who were 'the good guys and bad guys'. That said, Hewson grips with his short, punchy sentences and involving plot.Simply, there's an undercover operation to lure a renowned terrorist. A kidnapping takes place but the wrong little girl is taken, hence the book title. From there on, who does what and who belongs to which group leaves the mind boggled at times.I didn't think this was as good as the first book of the series. The main characters Vos and Bakker were not developed further as much as they could have been. Three and a half stars.

Good read
A well structured story, with twist at the end. The characterisations are comprehensive if not a bit repetitive but not too much of an issue.

URGENT CPR TO BRING CRIME FIGHTER BACK TO LIFE
I absolutely loved the first book of the series, loved loved loved the detective Mr Hewson created and couldn't wait for this sequel. I'm sorry to report that I was sorely disappointed. Vos flits thru the story like a ghost, not quite there neither in body nor in once indomitable spirit. The writing is still way above the rest, the plot is okay, but the energy is missing, and Vos' manic energy in the quest for truth was what held it together. Maybe he can regain it before the next outing? I'm holding my breath.

Gripping
Having read and enjoyed the Nic Costa novels I looked around for other books and stumbled upon Pieter Vos in The House of Dolls. That led me to follow the series and this second book does not disappoint with its honest reality and twisting plots

Not the best David Hewson
I found this book a little bit boring and slow.Amsterdam and terrorists didn't do it for me.See what his next one brings.

Not a good buy for me
Very disappointed this time. Have been a Hewson fan for years and have bought every book he has written but this time I found the story had too many characters and took ages to get anywhere. Found the names confusing though in the Italian sequence this was never a problem. I suppose it is asking a lot for someone to get it right to suit everybody.
