This book captured my attention immediately which surprised me! The development of the plot and characters kept me in suspense. Can't wait to start the next book in the series!

Kaleidoscope: The Vision Chronicles, Book 1 by Chariss Walker, published by CreateSpace Direct is intriguing. It is not a stand-alone book. They are designed to be read in order. There are eight books in this series.I gave this book five stars. There was a lot of research done to write this captivating book.Michael James Lewis, aka Mike was a geophysicist working outside Cairo in 1998 when he was thirty. He discovered from a co-worker that he had a special gift. He had spent fifteen years denying his gift of visions."After a light dinner, I went to the gym for a grueling workout. It was something I did nearly every night of the week. When on a jobsite, I bought a temporary pass to the nearest gym. My body was lean and hard from the punishment I gave it, but that’s what I needed to find restful sleep."Mike has a weekly housekeeper, Maria. He realizes there's not a lot of dirt but his living area needs attention. "As a dedicated bachelor, I’m tidy. I subscribe to the rules left over from childhood. If you open it, close it. If you break it, fix it. If you get it out, put it back, and so forth. Nevertheless, dust accumulates and any home takes on a stale odor when windows and doors remain closed for long intervals."Here is Mike's description of his visions as he tells it to Nelson, who is the first person he ever told. You’ve heard the analogy that it takes more muscles to frown than to smile. Well, the same concept could be applied regarding denial and acceptance. *I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*I had no idea what to expect when I started reading this, but with a synopsis stating the main character "...sees horrifying visions of disturbing future events through a kaleidoscope..." I knew I had to sign up to read it.I love our main character, Mike. His life has been put on hold because of these visions. He has always felt like the odd one, and these kaleidoscope visions have only made that feeling more real. We are gradually introduced to him, and we are given lots of time to grow with him in the story. He's super relatable, and I just love his character progression.The mystery of this novel is brilliant. I love how you, as the reader, are taken on a crazy ride, never really knowing who to trust. It takes a little bit to get to the action, because this is such a character driven novel, and we needed to get to know Mike. Once the action starts, it just keeps going, and doesn't stop.This was a fantastic book full of unique concepts and thrills. I can't wait to read the next one!

This was an extremely good book. The characters have depth and intelligence. The plot is surreal. Once starting, ... I really couldn't put Kaleidoscope down. The ending I didn't see coming, but was impressed with the discrete direction. This was my first book from Chariss Walker. He has fought this “ability” for over 17 years, but once he is ready to accept it, he realizes that he has been constantly monitored for evidence of his ability since he was a child. He realizes that he is being followed and that his life may be in danger. Action packed craziness ensues as two of his five best college friends, a psychiatrist and an FBI agent, get drawn into his drama.Kaleidoscope is well written with an action packed plot and great characters I immediately enjoyed. Warning: This is book 1 of the series, The Vision Chronicles, and ends with a huge cliffhanger. I already bought and can’t wait to read book 2, Spyglass (all 8 books in the series are available now). I was introduced to this book by an email from Voracious Readers Only. Thank you, Chariss, for an amazing start to what I expect to be a fantastic series!!! :)

Overall this was a decent story. It has an interesting plot but it is written very dryly. I also thought the dialogue needed work, too choppy. I think they could have left sex talk out altogether without losing anything. The author also went on and on about visualization. I really detested the cliffhanger and felt it was an unnecessary ploy to sell more books.

I loved this! It kept me captivated from beginning to end. The characters were believable, and the story was fascinating. My one small gripe is that it left me hanging at the end... and I’m reassured that there are a number of follow-on stories in the series. The author definitely knows what she is talking about when it comes to psychic phenomena, and I liked the way she used this is a key part of the story. There is plenty of action, of the romantic as well as the thriller kind. I’m coming back for more!

This is a reasonably well-written story about the ability to see future events - though it's not as straightforward as it seems.There is action and suspense, and though I don't like sex-scenes, they add to character development in some ways. It was a little repetitious at times.Worth a look for those who enjoy paranormal romances with a few thrills of suspense.

I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in the series, the slow discovery of the main character’s gift, alongside betrayal and the confusion of who to trust. His developing relationship with Danny was interesting too. A real cliff hanger at the end of the book prompted me to purchase the second book. However having now read the second and third in the series I realise it is all a bit predictable now and too sickly romantic for me and I have lost interest in the characters. If you love romances and a fairly predictable story line you will enjoy the rest of the series. For me the first book was definitely the best.

But paranormal - I am not sure, but the visions element is super. Paranormal in a real way - if that makes any sense! I expected something completely different when I looked at the cover!The Good!I loved the fact that Mike has a secret and he wasn't aware of it. It built intrigue from the start and Odom opening the door to his visions. I felt bad and good for Mike as he had the ability but did he have a choice to open it? I felt sorry for him at the start, and the more I read, the more I edged to the side of my chair.. this book is exciting!The Bad!This is not a story it is a bloody epic! Good grief, the details and the bits of information and the thrilling bits - who is trying to kidnap Mike, etc. I loved the bad bit of the story - thrilling.The UglyThere are some disturbing visions of events.... When the action comes - it comes with force!I really enjoyed this read, even though it is not my usual type of reading. It draws you in!5 Stars

He spends much time and energy exhausting himself to avoid the images in sleep. The loneliness of his situation is remedied by a chance encounter with a beautiful woman who has much in common with him. He ignores some disturbing details about the relationship because he is falling in love.He realizes he is being followed, and strange things are happening around him but he has no idea why. As he works on trying to understand his issues, he gets some control over the visions. But he is is being targeted for something and even his friends are at risk. The story gets more exciting as he battles those who are trying to abduct him. It becomes a wild ride that kept me up too late. Now I want to know what happens next! Good action filled adventure!
