This was a present and the recipient seems to be very happy with it.

This book is glorious. My four year old son (explorer) is obsessed and so am I. Everything from the illustrations to the carefully pitched and beautifully written text is such a welcome departure from the usual saccharine kids stuff. More please.

This is a beautifully illustrated book written as though it were a factual compendium of merpeople. It draws on myths and legends from around the world to create an imaginary scientific/historical handbook of mermaids. Brilliantly done and gorgeously presented. We love it.
