Astrid and Apollo and the Happy New Year (Astrid & Apollo)

My daughter is Hmong and she is 8 years old. She loves this book. Its wonderful and refreshing to find a book that she can relate too. I am definitely going to buy more.

Lovely series. I ordered all of them. Probably ~1st Grade reading level if I had to pick for my kids. It’s above my Kindergartener’s reading level and below my older kids at 2nd Grade. While my children are not Hmong, they are Asian and they enjoyed reading about Asian characters that were similar to their own family.

This wonderful story was funny, relatable, and informative. It was so fascinating to learn how Hmong people celebrate such a special time of year. The author's ability to make Astrid and Apollo sound and act like children you'd want to meet really gave the story a realism that my nieces and nephews found appealing. Highly recommend this book to everyone.

I bought all 4 books in the series. Love them all!! I hope VT Bidania writes more books soon.
