Quite hard work, but not very satisfying
Coe conveys quite a good "rites of passage" scenario, although all the teenagers did tend to merge into one another, and it did not seem worth bothering going back 50 pages all the time to remind oneself who they were.A couple of nice moments of shock, a decent feel for era and place, but hardly memorable stuff, sadly

This book has an interesting plot line and is very well written. The writer has a great imagination and understanding of people. Very good characterisation and an enjoyable read.
