Great headset, 100% worth the price!
Great headset. Amazing sound quality, and I love the included cloth ear pads as I like to be able to hear some surroundings. The mic monitoring feature is also useful so I can stop myself from being too loud. Extremely comfortable too. The 7.1 surround sound would be good for shooting games however I would not recommend you use it for any other purpose. The bass sliders do not make a huge difference. They don’t really affect the bass it self, they just allow the bass to shake the drivers at high volume.

Sound Quality is excellent, Is better than Cloud II. However microphone is average at best.
The microphone could be better, although i never found any issues, I can be too quiet when speaking among other gamers. Cloud II had better microphone, but Cloud Alpha s has better sound and also alpha s has better surround 7.1. Most important is has better imaging which means you can locate noises location better, This is 100% true, It is excellent at sound location for gaming.

Almost perfect
These would be perfect if they had a single audio output. They come with 2, one optimized for calls and the other optimized for gaming/music/videos. The 'gaming' output is terrible for calls and the 'calls' output is terrible for music. This means that if you want to listen to music and get calls frequently, you have to remember to switch the output (on Windows) every time which is quite bad.Other than that, sound and mic quality is amazing.

Great robust headphones
These are great headphones. They are really comfortable even for long periods of time. The surround sound feature is okay but often I forget to turn it on and everything sounds fine anyway. The wires are especially good quality and the fact they are detachable is really great as helps to prevent breakage.

Cloud II to Cloud AlphaS (1 year update)
[Update 26 June 2024]After less than a year parts of the plastic on the headband haae split, severely on one side and the beginnings on the other. I have not stressed the area at all, which makes me believe the plastic is just not durable enough. I had Cloud II's that lasted 7 years with no issues, so I am suprised to find these more costly headphones have issues in less than a year. Also the "2 year warranty" doesnt cover this apparently, and HyperX dont sell replacement parts either. So obviously my 5 star review is now down to 1 star, and now I will look for a better headphone brand after using HyperX for ~10 years.[Original Review 10 August 2023]Sadly my cloud II's died from being well used but lasted me a good 6-7 Years. If these last as long as that then I will be happy. There are many great reviews for HyperX Cloud headphones out there, all I have to say is HyperX have never let me down with their superb quality, comfort and performance. Highly reccommend these or the older Cloud II's.

Best ever ones I've bought.
Not as heavy as others I've had over the years,7.1 surround sound is awsome for the price, comfort is astounding even after many hours gaming, definitely recommend them.

Best headset I've ever owned for the price bracket
These things are fantastic. Comfy as heck, I can't hear a thing from the outside world with these on and a movie or some games going. Absolutely love them. Bought a pair for a friend too and he also digs them big time. Cannot recommend highly enough. The only possible downside I could see is the wee 7.1 dongle if you are clumsy you could end up standing on it and breaking it. Other than that these things are perfect.

Excellent build quality, poor sound quality
As said in the headline, this headset is very well constructed with seemingly durable materials, overall not too heavy or too light, adjustable in every way that is necessary, and very comfortable too.The sound quality, however, is very disappointing. Audio is very foggy and unclear for such an expensive set of headphones. For comparison's sake, I had a HyperX Cloud 2 headset, which was purchased almost 10 years ago and is quite worn but still very functional. The sound quality from the older headset was significantly better than that of the Alpha S, perhaps three or four times as clear. I wouldn't even say the sound from the Alpha S is as good as a pair of 3.5mm ear-buds.On a hunch, I tried switching the cables around between the two headsets. The audio of the Cloud 2 became far worse when using the new Alpha S cable, but the audio of the Alpha S was only slightly improved by using the Cloud 2's cable. This makes me wonder if the manufacturers have begun cutting corners on the internal components of both the headset and the cable it uses. It seems that standards for both have diminished since the time that the Cloud 2 was a new product. It is entirely possible that I was sent a defective pair by mistake, but I couldn't find any signs of damage on the headphones, so I really can't be sure whether I got a bad pair, or the inherent quality of the product is just low. Either way, it's really not acceptable when the item is in the 70-100 euro price mark.EDIT: Forgot to mention the NGenuity software. This is compatible with the headphones and according to the instructions, it is a recommended download for use with the product. However, using NGenuity has absolutely no effect on sound clarity. All it does is provide options for standard volume and balance between game volume and chat volume. You can already control standard volume through the windows UI or keyboard shortcuts, and you can already control balance levels with the physical controls attached to the cable. The NGenuity software is therefore almost entirely redundant, in addition to the fact that it doesn't mitigate the inherent problems with the device's sound quality.
