The Harlequin Tea Set and Other Stories (Agatha Christie Collection) Paperback – June 19, 2012

WORTH GETTING!! I first started reading Agatha Christie when I was about 10, picking the books off my mother’s shelf. In the past few decades, I have read each one too many times to count (it is funny now how easily I can solve some of the mysteries ;) ). I still reread them, I just wait long enough until the book seems vaguely familiar versus practically memorized. Imagine my delight then to discover stories by her that I’ve never read?!! Once again, I owe that to my mother, she has been going back through her collection, rereading and researching the books, which is how she heard about this compilation. I figured it would contain a few familiar stories, repackaged from other compilations, but no! There is one story that may seem familiar bc Agatha Christie used a similar one for a book, but it was still very enjoyable. I didn’t want to reach the last story; I didn’t want this delight to end. I will wait several months or so, and then it will become another one that I reread on a regular basis!

Really enjoyed reading the new-to-me short stories of Agatha Christie.

I guess it’s due to the length of the story that a mystery has to make more leaps of logic and reasoning than others. But there were a few where I thought there was a big leap there.

As always Agatha Christie delivers! Wonderful read! Highly recommend.But disappointed in condition of book itself. Bought new off Amazon and couple pages were torn and unable to read complete sentences and some pages the print looked like they were run through a copier sideways.

I love the fact that book has multiple stories. This was the perfect gift for my mom. She l9ves Agatha Christie.

I stopped reading after the first four stories. I found them depressing, peopled with unsatisfying characters, with ambiguous or tragic endings. They lacked the sense of excitement found in Christie's murder mysteries, which are tomes of highest optimism in comparison to this collection, which could only be enjoyed by pessimists unable to contemplate the possibility of happy endings.

And such a joy to find! Harley Quin is such an unusual character; I'd quite forgotten his reason for showing up. The other stories were rather O. Henry-ish. A very enjoyable evening for me.

What’s not to like with Agatha Christie? Well, she tends to introduce more characters than I can keep up with. I would like to be able to review the cast from time to time.
