Wonderful!
Aside from being a wonderful read for strength and hope, this is a clinic on how to speak before a crowd. Heart-felt and re-readable.

Good recovery
This hardcover edition does not match the page numbers in the paperback books. So it's difficult for group studies.

Must read
I’ve listened to this countless times but it takes on a whole different view reading it because I can “hear” how said some things in the words. Also it has been hard to decipher what he said in some of audio so the book helps with that as well

A great way to re-evaluate your relationship with God.
There are some amazing nuggets of wisdom and thinking here such as, "It is the set of the sail, and not the gale, that determines where it goes," and "Be good for nothing. That's the fun deal, just to be good for nothing," and "Love equals action."This book will cause you to think seriously about matters you may have thought you had all figured out before. It can be a little confusing and seemingly contradictory, which is why I gave it 4-stars instead of 5.But Chuck "C" was clearly a very flawed, charismatic individual who also possessed some amazing qualities and stands out as as man who utterly devoted his life to helping other alkies set themselves free with the help of their Higher Powers and a "passionate. spontaneous. helpful" approach to life. This is a book you need to study and not just read. It will make you think about your life in ways that you don't expect.

A must-read...
Chuck C. goes beyond the usual 12-step talk. If you haven't listened to the audios of the original talks this book is based on, those will really help to get the spirit of what is transcribed in this book. If you can both listen to the audio and read the book, that's the way to go. I love having the book to refer back to and read as part of my program. I wish I would have heard Chuck C. a long time ago. His views on spirituality / the higher power are what make this really revolutionary in my opinion. No wonder this book has so many copies in print and the audio talk remains in the same class as Joe and Charlie, a must-hear for the "tongue chewing babbling drunk" as Chuck C. describes himself upon arrival at AA. Chuck C. didn't just talk, he used the ideas in this book to transform himself from that "tongue chewing babbling drunk" into a man who was contended, useful to his fellows, and focused on the act of loving others.

SEEING THE WORLD BETTER WHEN SOBER
Another book that I bought to research alcohol and alcoholism.I was able to read this short book easily over a a weekend. I found Chuck C’s journey to getting sober an enjoyable read and I did see the world of alcoholism through different glasses having read his truthful ‘warts and all’ story. But it was a little repetitive.

A New Perspective
Chuck Chamberlain was an alcoholic who sought and found recovery through Alcoholics Anonymous. This book documents a talk he gave to fellow alcoholics and AA members in 1975 at the Pala Messa Retreat. The account is inspiring and provides hope of a new life to all those who suffer from the disease of alcoholism. The title 'A New Pair of Glasses' refers to the new perspective on life Chuck C gained through practicing the 12 step program of Alcoholics Anonymous. This is a 'must read' for all those whose lives have been touched by alcoholism.
