First, as received, the knife was not usable for skiving leather. I appreciated the other reviews that emphasized the need to properly profile and sharpen the blade. Once the rough concave grind was ground away, a 14 degree bevel ground and the flat side polished the blade was stropped and now will do a very nice job. The handle needed some minor contouring and smoothing, a coat of stain and hand rubbed polyurethane and it is now in service. Consider this as a heat treated piece of raw material with a handle attached and you’ll be happy. For the price, no one should complain.

Easily the best price you’ll find on a skiving knife. Handle is sturdy and the steel seems decent. Unlike the other reviewers mine arrived dull as a butter knife but for $7 I can sharpen and hone it myself. Overall would definitely recommend, especially for a first dive into hand skiving.

One of the pictures makes the bevel look terrible, so I decided that I’d buy it anyway and get some practice on my whetstones because it’s only $6. However, it came razor sharp with no flaws and I was immediately able to skive very tough, dry veg tan leather. I was never able to skive at all with my olfa Japanese knife. This is the best value purchase I’ve ever made in leathercraft.

Like most cheap cutting tools, they work fine once you sharpen and polish up a bit

The blade, as delivered, was unfinished and blunt. It needed to be sharpened with sharpening stone and leather strope. The blade is made from soft steel and will become blunt after a few cuts or skiving attempts. I wasted more time sharpening this crappy knife than cutting or skiving. Don't waste time and money on this crappy knife.

Hallo.Wie Ihr anhand der Fotos erkennen könnt, so wurde die Klinge nicht richtig geschliffen. Mit diesem Ding kann man das Leder nur abschrubben, aber nicht korrekt so abtragen, für das derartige Messer geschaffen werden. Also unbrauchbar für mich. Ich muss es nachschleifen. Brrrb Der Blitz auf dem zweiten Bild zeigt genau die Stelle, an der das Ding scharf ist. Mehr nicht. Schon wieder Geld für Schrott ausgegeben.
