Does a good job and priced right
I just received this today and had to use it so I got some ground chuck and gave it a shot. Here's the deal to stop any complaints others have had.1 - Place wax paper down or any non-stick surface.2 - Use a measuring cup for consistent sized patties, I like either 1/4 or 1/3 cup sizes.3 - When you tap the meat out of the measuring cup, it's already in a ball form and place on your non-stick surface.4 - I put a plastic grocery bag over the meat and press down firmly with a twisting motion.5 - Now you have a perfect hamburger pattie!I had issues with the meat sticking to the surface of the press, even after apply non-stick spray to it. It was a bit frustrating and several methods of using the press all had some form of sticking, but the plastic bag / saran wrap / or another piece of wax paper on top stopped the sticking issue all together. No cleaning issues either since the press never touches the meat with this process so it goes right back in the drawer after using.Measuring the meat makes sure you always get the right thickness for your preference. If you want McDonald's sized thin patty's, I think you can use as little as two tablespoons of meat. If you want a huge burger, you can make a 1/2 lb. (8 oz.) burger as well!I like putting a little less than a 1/4 cup in the press and then top the meat patty with provolone cheese, pepper flakes, and roasted green chili's. Then I top it with a little less than a 1/4 cup of meat and press it on top. Now you've got a fantastic stuffed burger that's just the right size.I gave it 4 stars simply because I think they could have made the press with a non-stick material. However, I'm more fond of putting plastic on top and cut out the cleaning process.I would definitely recommend this product, and when used with some minor altercations mentioned above, you too can have perfectly round and consistent burgers.

Awesome!
I was reluctant ordering this after reading some of the negative reviews but it was so reasonably priced that I decided to give it a go. I ordered this along with a box of; Norpro 3403 Square Wax Papers, 250-Piece. This Hamburger Press is exactly what I was looking for! I like it so much that I'm ordering a couple more to give out to family. I also found a really helpful demonstration of this press -search on Youtube for: "Fox Run Hamburger Press ureviews."Here's the process of how I made my patties:1. Form "meat balls" a little smaller then tennis ball size.2. As you make them, place meatballs on a cookie tray (or any other clean surface) so that they don't smash together.3. Set up a row of square wax paper and put a "meat ball" on top of each (like a conveyor line, it helps the process go faster).4. Cut off a piece of Saran wrap about the size of the wax square. You'll only need this one piece for all of the meatballs.5. Now you can start making patties! Pull aside one of the wax squares with the "meatball" on top...blanket the Saran wrap on top of the meatball... now place the hamburger press onto the meatball (like you're hiding a ball under a cup)...holding the base to the surface, push the press down.6. Lift up the "cup" part exposing the patty, then wiggle the press off. It should come off easily since the Saran wrap is keeping the patty from sticking.7. Pat yourself of the back. Wala! You have a professional patty. Note: At first I tried making it without using the Saran wrap but the patty kept sticking which just meant wasting more time wiggling it off.

Does what it says, easy to use.
This makes 1/2 lb burgers. That was not clear to me when I bought it. That's fine with me, but for people who were hoping for McD-sized burgers they'd probably want one about half that thickness.I like it better than I thought. I can buy a big 5.5lb thing of burger, mix it in a big bowl with lots of spices, then you hold the press in one fist like an ice cream cone, stuff it with the other hand, kind of flatten against it and then run your finger around it to get the excess off the edges. I bought patty-papers which are great, they don't cost much and go a LONG way. I was able to very neatly stack these, for storing in freezer and fridge. They are more dense than the burgers I make by hand since I'm packing them tightly in there, which is yummy and makes them firmer for cooking. It also means since I track my food intake I know how much I'm eating each time; and, this also means knowing exactly how long for cooking since they're all the same size; and, exactly how many I'll get out of a package of ground beef. It's kinda silly I guess, not like anybody can't make a burger with their hands, but I really like this little tool.

This is a basic hamburger press, I purchased it because sometimes its nice to be able to make hamburgers that are proportioned well. Most of the time I do it by hand, but they don't come out as even that way. Also when company comes over, they don't want you man-handling their food! This press works well and is easy to use. Cleaning it is easy as well, which is a big plus. The burgers do tend to stick a little bit depending on the meat, but it's not so bad that it ruins the burger or makes the press hard to use. I like the size burgers it creates, not to small and not so thick that you can't easily cook the burger all the way through, even for those of us that like our burgers well done. For the price of this hamburger press, you really can't go wrong.

This is a great simple press... for the money.
It's under $8 and it gets the job done. I made 8x1/3lb burger patties in just a few minutes. They came out uniform as desired. My wife made some and had good results. You do have to apply a fair amount of pressure to get them nice and compact. Our biggest gripe is you need to be careful when removing them from the press. Depending on how 'wet' your mix is they can stick a little. It just requires a little extra attention to avoid the patty ripping. For the volume of burgers we do I am satisfied with this purchase. If you regularly make a lot of patties then you may want to try another type.

Exactly what I wanted
Exactly what I wanted it to be, makes hamburger patties easily, uniformly shaped. I use them for 1/4 lb or slightly larger and it does the job perfectly. Comes apart for dishwasher cleaning easily and also goes back together easily. Excellent product!
