Good quality and good variety of grind sizes.
We LOVE this set! Hubby hunts so we process our own venison and I buy pork butts and shoulders at the supermarket when on sale. The grinding attachment is great but only comes with two disks and they work great, but sometime you want something in between. This set allows me to grind super fine for summer sausage or anything up to a course grind that I sometimes want for beef to make burger. The plus? It comes with a plate for stuffing sausage which I use alot. I bought another set that was okay, but needed either smaller or larger plate and this set has everything I could every need. The only downside some might see is that hand washing is recomended. I have put mine in the dishwasher in a pinch and they are fine. I will continue to hand wash mostly though. My son (a hunter also) just got a Kitchenaid mixer and the grinder attachment as a gift recently so I bought him this set also. He has become the new sausage maker in the family. Honestly, I think it a better variety of disks for the money than others I have seen for a lot more money. So if you're not sure what ones you will use, this is the set to buy. Good quality, and by far the best buy for your money. And yes, I would and HAVE bought it again. Happy grinding!

Sooo much better than the stock plates/knife from KA.
Love this set for the KA grinder. The plates fit perfectly, the knife actually slices against the plate giving a great grind (unlike the stock KA blade/plate combo). The sizes of the plates are also a great size. The KA is sized for mush, not sausage - even their "large" plate is really too small for anything but making hot dogs or other mush sausages. Having a really good 3/8" plate is the perfect size for patty or cased sausage. the really large plate works great for chunky salami or other similar cured meats and the sausage stuffing retainer is so much better than that silly little plastic thing KA includes with their stuffing attachment. Highly recommend this seller and this item. If you really want a superior grinder, consider the Hightower grinder (cast stainless so it wont crack, split like my first KA did) also sold by this seller.

Nice grinder plate assortment for thr Kitchen Aid grinder attachment
It did not fit the newer model grinder attachment (with the removable meat hopper) but it works great on the older style attachment!!!

Multiple size grinding plates offer more product options
As of this post, only used two of the plates. Both worked well and allow for larger product grind than the standard plates provided by Kitchenaid grinder set.

Perfect addition to KitchenAid grinder attachment
First use in the books! The KitchenAid kit comes with a medium grind plate, and I was looking for a coarse grind. This kit is going to be a great addition with multiple plates and a new blade. It was a perfect fit, providing smooth grinding of both beef brisket and pork shoulder.Looking forward to using the 1st stage plate, for meat that requires multiple passes..

This was exactly what I needed!
The plates that came with the Kitchenaid attachment were just way too small for making ham salad. I used the one with 5 holes and it worked great!

not the perfect fit for FGA-2
So, I've seen different reviews on the fit in kitchenAid grinders. I have an FGA-2 (discontinued, but not original) I don't know what's changed in the different generations of these, but I now know that the discs in this set fit just fine. The knife however is 3mm longer from end to end than the KitchenAid blade. Not much, but just enough for it to hit the threads on the inside of the body. Because of this I won't be using that knife. Unfortunately I don't think the 5 and 6 hole discs will work well with the smaller original knife, because the holes reach too close to the outside edge and there's just not enough for the blade of the knife to ride on without falling in and binding up. The 9-hole and the extra-fine disc seem to be OK. I do need to say, this is all observation without connecting it to the mixer and actually running it. Just hand fit and turning the worm by hand from the back. I didn't want to risk running it in the machine and damaging it. So, in conclusion I'm confident that I will be able to use 3 out of 5 discs in this set. If and when SmokeHouseChef reconfigure the machining on the larger discs to give a bit more outside ring, and make a two blade knife that fits, I would be very interested in the larger chop to do stew and chili, until then I'll use what I can of this set.

Great new grind plates for the plastic Kitchenaid meat grinder
I have had and used these plates and the new knife on my Kitchen aid grinder to make sausage for about 6 months now. I purchased them because the plates that come with the grinder do not have big enough holes, resulting in a finer grind than I would like. This set not only has plates that let me get the coarser grind that i wanted, but the new blade that came with it is absolutely great. If, however, it is not centered correctly when it is assembled, it can scrape the inside of the assembly, so that is something to consider while assembling it. The plates feel heavier than the original plates, and the options to get either a coarser or finer grind. This is the set that should have come with the grinder! I am considering upgrading to the stainless grinder, but only if i can find this set for it.
