Hope springs eternal!
I'd choose five, but I'm acutely aware that there are those who will never go near our beloved companions. This book is what everyone who works with the Humane Societies with devotion try to share with a human world that does not see the possibilities in working with these wonder animals. Thanks to places like Dog Town, our mission to bring human beings and dogs together in mutual love and protection is reaffirmed. Offer this book for Christmas and make the rating 5!A "Boys Town" story. If you're still at arms' length away, the TV show on Animal Planet: " Pit bulls and parolees" with challenge you to take a second look at this book and the inhabitants of "Dog Towns".

Uplifting Stories
I would recommend this book to all dog lovers. I really enjoyed the true stories of each dogs rehabilitation at Dogtown. I have rescued dogs for years and understand what's involved. These stories reiterate that every dog deserves a safe, happy life. God bless the Dogtown staff who would not give up on the Vicktory dogs. I have a rescued pit bull bait dog and know first hand that they can be rehabilitated but the road isn't easy. This book has motivated me to get involved with Best Friends. I would like to travel to Utah and volunteer sometime this year. My heart goes out to all the selfless, dedicated Best Friends staff. And God bless everyone who rescues and rehabilitates abandoned and unwanted animals.

Dog own, Tales of Rescue, Rehabilitation & Redemption
I was not fully aware of the evil man Michael Vick, the book gave me an insight into his lifestyle but even more so, even though I adore Pitbulls I was not aware so much of the history or what a great dog they could be. Here in New Zealand alot of folk now freak out over them, we have recently lost our old staffy cross and reading this book made me aware of how little I knew. I am planning our trip to Dog Town. It was a great read and hard to put down. Any dog lover will enjoy this book. Jamie, Auckland, NZ

Enjoyable and Uplifting Stories for Animal Lovers
I really, really enjoyed this book. As a rule, I avoid books about animals because for some reason, they most often have a sad or disturbing ending. However, this book took a much more uplifting stance. The book contained a number of stories about dogs that had been helped and found their way to a better life. It reminds me that there are a lot of people who care so much, that they dedicate their lives to helping animals in need. I loved the book from beginning to end and think anyone who loves dogs would love this book.

Dogs, dogs, dogs!
I was not familiar with the TV show DogTown, not having cable and therefore not having the National Geographic channel, but of course the title of the book and the dog on the cover caught my eye. I follow so many rescue organizations on FB, and dogs are my spirit animal. So I was excited to dive into this book, and it did not disappoint. Each chapter is focused on one or two specific dogs, almost all of them having come to Dogtown from a bad situation – hoarding, puppy mills, even a couple of the Vicktory Dogs, as the pitties involved in Michael Vick’s dogfighting operation came to be called. But one dog’s story especially touched me. Knightly had lived his whole life in a safe loving home as part of the family, but his owners were elderly and eventually were unable to take care of themselves, much less Knightly. Long story short, Knightly found himself at Dogtown, where he was bewildered, anxious, and depressed. I could easily picture him, lost in his new world, and my heart just ached. I’m actually tearing up right now, just writing about him. My last dog experienced a similar situation, finding his way to me after his owner passed away. Unlike Knightly, he was unsocialized, having been around pretty much nobody but his one owner for six years. But like Knightly, he was bewildered and anxious. It took several weeks for me to gain his trust, for him to allow me to pet him, and thankfully I did break through his emotional barriers and win him over and I believe he was happy with me. Unfortunately, I only got four years with him, before he passed away. All this to say Knightly’s story struck a note with me.But enough about me. I very much enjoyed this book, sad at times, but also uplifting and hopeful, and I truly admire the staff of Dogtown and their devotion to their charges.
