SpiroChef Salt and Pepper Grinder, Stainless Steel

I was so excited to get this product because I thought it would be perfect for camping. We go often and my salt always clumps and gets hard. I just received it and filled it. I removed the top to try out the pepper side. When I put the lid back on it fell apart. Now it isn't going to be air tight like I needed. I'm about ready to give up on having a option for salt besides refilling every trip.

I love this product. I was a little worried that it might be a pain to take the caps on and off but it's not. I also wanted a mill that would grind the pink salt which is soft and this works petfect

I good pepper mill has a couple of distinct advantages. First, freshly ground pepper is so much more flavorful and effective than pre-ground pepper out of a can. Second, it affords the opportunity to grind the pepper as finely or as coarsely as desired. A salt grinder doesn’t make a lot of difference on the taste most of the time but it does allow choosing the size of the grounds. This particular mill does both salt and pepper at the same time - salt on one end, pepper on the other. It’s a neat device that works well.Each end of this mill has a burr grinder assembly. When empty the grinders turn easily and without any resistance which is good; they are harder to turn when there is actually something to grind. This should be inherently obvious. The burr is a typical ceramic grinder with a wingnut-style adjustment knob that allows for setting the grind size as coarse or as fine as desired. There is a cap on each end as well that keeps the assembly from sprinkling particles when not in use.The chambers for holding material to be ground are large and can hold a lot. They are designed to divide the space evenly and still look stylish. On the grinder assembly there are labels for salt and pepper though visually they are not really necessary. And, if you want to grind something other than salt and pepper, there is no reason you can’t. If the labels bug you they can be easily covered with a label. One example where you might want to do this is if you have two different types of salt, such as regular white sea salt and Himalayan pink.In use this grinder works very well. I have had no trouble with making the adjustments for fine and course and it grinds well. I would have liked a larger assembly for the grinders as I have hands like a gorilla but the large majority of people will find this grinder just right.This is a nice spice grinder. It works well, it’s easy to adjust and it is stylish. I absolutely love this two in one salt and pepper grinder. We only use sea salt, (and if you've never tried sea salt, you don't know what you're missing) and we only use fresh ground pepper because it has so much more flavor than the already ground pepper you get from the store. I put some pink sea salt in this along with some peppercorn melange. It is easy to fill and the grind is a nice medium fine grind, just the way we like it. I also love that there are caps on the ends to seal in the freshness of the salt and peppercorns. This is the first salt and pepper grinder I've seen with that. It seals in the freshness and keeps your peppercorns from getting stale. Absolutely love it.It also looks so nice that I have decided not to hide it in my cupboard and just leave it on the kitchen counter for all to see. I had been looking for reasonably priced, refillable salt and pepper grinders for months when I stumbled across this item. I received this product at a discounted price for an honest review. This is sturdy, well-built and works perfectly. The grinders are adjustable for varying how fine of a grind you want. I found the covers to be hard to get off and cumbersome, so I just removed them permanently. It is easy to refill and I like the way it looks, too. It is tall and slender - thus, easy to knock over - and has been knocked to the floor several times with no noticeable damage to the grinder.
