It will destroy devices, but it's actually a good lamp.
BEWARE OF THIS LAMP! It will destroy devices. Customer service was not helpful, and was downright insulting.The lamp itself works great and as a lamp, I would give it 4 stars BUT it draws more power than many USB ports can provide. It took out my wife's Lenovo IdeaPad, requiring a $500+ repair (new mainboard). Sadly the overdraw features of the lamp and laptop failed. Customer service basically told me "too bad".When plugged into a cheap USB plug, it actually works well. Based purely on being USB-powered, it's dangerous to any device you plug it into. But plugged into a cheap wall wart, it's fine.

As of now it's a useless gift
USB POWER ONLY. I bought this (and 5 other TaoTronics) lights as gifts. This one has ONLY USB power. No transformer included.The gifted person wants it for a bedroom table -- he has no USB power nearby. I can't tell from the description if this was a mistake OR it is truly USB dependent. It isn't much use at the head of the bed without power. I'm contacting Soluc today -- if they send a transformer, I'll update this.As of now it's a useless giftAY
