Gracie Standing With Hope

Very rarely do I read a book that I want to read again. I plan to read this book, " Gracie. Standing With Hope" again and possibly again. As Gracie takes us along her painful journey from catastrophic car wreak to singing before Presidents, she teaches us what she has learned from her pain and suffering and how it has benefited others in her path. This book is not just about pain and suffering, but filled with joy, comedy and laughter! I learned things beneficial to my own life . We do not get through life without varying amounts of suffering and pain for each and everyone of us. Gracie shows us how to benefit through the hard times and end up with a life, well lived and filled with joy and hope for the future. Praise the Lord for Gracie and Peter!

I gave my wife this book at Christmas time. She is my caregiver and has been struggling with my medical needs and numerous doctor visits, especially during this time of Covid-19. She has almost finished reading it 2 weeks after receiving it!

I have known Peter and Gracie for over 15 yrs, as I worked for Peter for a couple of years. Never in his time as my boss, did he even hint at all the heartache and pain in his life. I met Gracie several times, but never really got to know her. I knew she was a double amputee, but that's about it. Never, ever did Peter even scratch the surface of Gracie's story. This book made me laugh, cry, and at one point it was so painful I had to slamthe book shut. I just didn't think it I could read anymore. But thank God I did continue.Thank you Gracie for sharing your amazing, heartbreaking story. It has inspired me to do some volunteer work in the area of amputees and providing Bibles to the hopeless people in the world. This should be on the New York Time's List of Best Reads. It is so amazing and moving that as a man it brought me to tears a few times. I myself have an older son who served in Iraq proudly with the US Army and thankfully came home physically safely, but deals with other issues, yet moves forward! This story encouraged me that out of my own failures and depression over many years, that God still makes something useful out of me later in life. I bought extra copies and gave to co-workers and friends.

A movingly told testimony , Gracie is candidly open about every aspect of life and living with life altering injuries. Courage ,hope and a Faith to overcome every obstacle that she faced was recounted with honesty,transparency and a desire to connect with the reader. A good read but deeply challenging ,with much food for thought.
