- Growing in a rounded mound of gracefully arching branches to about 8 feet tall and 10 or more feet wide, Van Houtte Spirea is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings, or as a natural hedge in sunny landscape and flowering shrub borders. Also makes a nice accent in home foundation plantings against tall windowless walls. A fine addition to white theme gardens, cottage gardens and sunny woodland borders.
- Van Houtte Spirea is very easy to grow in a wide range of soils. It prefers a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility however is exceptionally drought tolerant when established. For most impressive flowering we suggest full to mostly sun, however plants will tolerate some light shade. Prune for shaping or to reduce the size of the plant after flowering in spring.
