Tankers

This was a rental movie I ordered from Amazon. I enjoyed it and recommend to any WWII buffs.

If you like movies about tanks, the crew and their battles, this is an excellent movie, a must see.It's an accurate account of what it was like to be a Russian tank crew fighting the Germans.

It’s a good game

Maybe its me or maybe the Russians just have a different style of film making, but I just didn't really enjoy this film. It has all the right costumes, equipment, World War II feels and everything else but it just doesn't appeal to me. The story seems slow and difficult to follow many times during the film. It this is your type of movie, by all means get it. Its just not for me.

As a historic note:The Kliment Voroshilov (KV) tanks, a series of Soviet heavy tanks named after the Soviet defence commissar and politician Kliment Voroshilov, operated with the Red Army during World War II. The KV tanks were known for their heavy armour protection during the early stages of the war, especially during the first year of the German invasion of the Soviet Union. In certain situations, even a single KV-1 or KV-2 supported by infantry could halt large German formations. The German Wehrmacht at that time rarely deployed its tanks against KVs, as their own armament was too poor to deal with the "Russischer Koloss" – "Russian Colossus".The KV tanks were practically immune to the 3.7 cm KwK 36 and howitzer-like, short-barreled 7.5 cm KwK 37 guns mounted, respectively, on the early Panzer III and Panzer IV tanks fielded by the invading German forces. Until the Germans developed more effective guns, the KV-1 was invulnerable to almost any German weapon except the 8.8 cm Flak gun.

This was like seeing things you never could hear about, because no one would believe anyway unless it was showcased the way how it was presented in this movie "Tankers". I understand from all different side of opponent, because I like to see kind of through the Art of war book understanding? Yet I'm not into war. The side that showcase the events say good things about the generals from both sides, their talent, personalities, and what they have achieved. The crew in the tanks were all different levels of mechanics too.

I find Russian and other European made war movies interesting to watch. They seem to pay closer attention to details in uniforms, vehicles and weapons better than most American productions. One thing this film had going for it is the number of real KV-1 and T-34s. Of course, the Russians still have a lot of those around in running order. Other tanks were dressed up with schurzen armor to look like Pzkw IV and they were reasonably well done. Interior shots of the tanks were a bit too roomy to be believed. This film didn't knock it out of the ballpark but I found it passable entertainment especially since it is free on Prime.

This is quite an enjoyable film but mainly from the point of view of the graphics and sound. The plot is rather silly and unbelievable. A purist will wonder what type / model the German tanks were supposed to be. The subtitles are good.

Well acted, with accurate sets and carefully filmed KV-1 tank repair areas and battle scenes. Compelling story line (filmed from Russian eyes), the film being based on a true story. Well worth watching, to get the perspective from the Russian point of view. Best viewed in Russian dialogue, with English subtitles.

they have done it again the russians realy know how to make realy authentic looking war movies watched this one last night good story line realy graphic tank scenes enjoyed it emensely
