As a child I loved horses and read many of Walter Farley's books. I've never forgotten how much I enjoyed his stories Now I'm a Grammy and tutor dyslexic children. Some of my grandkids and students love horses too. What a delight to once again read these wonderful books with a new generation of children! Farley's books portrayed a simpler and better time in our culture when good manners, moral courage, decency, honesty, kindness, perserverance, hard work, and rebounding from hard knocks was valued and appreciated...AND expected!I want all of 'my kids'--grandchildren and students alike--to see and experience through good storytelling virtue and honor in a book's characters, as well as the lack thereof in others."The Island Stallion" (like all Farley's books) are hard to put down! Exciting, suspenseful, uplifting, character-building, and just plain GOOD!

Walter Farley writes well - takes young readers on an adventure every time! A must read for the horse crazy kids in your life!

This book was fun and interesting. It has quite a bit of action, and is great for horse lovers. I read it aloud to my 9-year-old, and we both enjoyed it.

I read every book in the Black Stallion series up through The Horse-Tamer, and The Island Stallion is my favorite. It must be everybody else's favorite, too, because it has received all 5-star reviews. I must have read this book ten times, at least. I loved the idea of the Caribbean Island long ago abandoned by the Spaniards, of the red horse high on the cliff, and of Steve Duncan making his way through the stone maze: tense, scary, and exciting. Walter Farley knew how to write great horse stories and great adventure stories. The first two books in the Black Stallion series testify to that. But The Island Stallion tops them all in suspense.

Of all Walter Farley’s “Black Stallion” series books, this was my favorite as a child. Bought this for several grandchildren to try to expand their reading choices from endless modern fantasy series.

This book was AMAZING! it is so full of adventure and mystery. As you read this book you will be filled with a mysterious excitement, and you will be on the edge of your seat, guaranteed! Flame is every kid/teen's dream horse, and Azul Island the place of enchantment! I hope ya'll enjoy it as much as I did!This book is a MUST READ!!!

Rereading this book after 60 years I still found enjoyable and look forward to the remainder of the books in the series

A great book, really cool! Don‘t understand yet how this is supposed to fit I to the Black Stallion series, but never mind...

I have read this book in the past and it was good to read again. A well crafted story that didn't go as fast as the horse at a gallop so one could keep apace with it and the characters.

Its the perfect break after reading the previous books, a completly different protagonist and storyline nothing to do with the first three books. A wonderful thing to read after reading the black stallion and its sequels!

Tolles Buch. Ich bin ein grosser Fan von Walter farley. Die englischen Bücher sind um einiges schöner als die deutsche Version. Und dieser Band ist in Deutsch nicht vorhanden.
