Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas Kindle Edition

We bought the book because Emmett Otter the movie has been a Christmas staple since our grown kids were little, and now it’s a staple for their kids🙂

This is a sweet but melancholy story. I love the Hoban's children's books, but this one is much different than the Frances books, Charlie the Tramp, etc. I felt this story was a little disjointed (maybe I missed it, but why did the mother take the toolbox?). The end seemed different than the other Hoban books I've read, because the end seems almost accidental. I really wonder if this is one of "those" books that adults like more than children, and that is why is became a movie, etc.

My husband and his family have a tradition of watching Emmett Otter’s Jug Band Christmas movie during Christmas season, so I was so excited to give him this book as one of his presents. He loves it!

I have enjoyed Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas since I first viewed it on HBO in the late 70s. With its simple charm I feel it is one of the great American Christmas stories. With this book, and its story and pictures by Russell and Lillian Hoban, I am able to imagine the impact it had on Jim Henson when he first encountered it. This Christmas with the release of the soundtrack, by Paul Williams, from the original show I am able to find new enjoyment from this story. I have enjoyed Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas with my children and now my children's children. It continues to deliver a Christmas message about the importance of family, hope and love in all of its formats. Now if only the original show would be re-released on Blu-Ray in its unedited original version.

This was a Christmas gift for my Godson. He is one at the moment and loved bedtime stories. This is one that has meant a lot to me in my life. He has the movie and this year I knew he needed the book also. His mom cried when she opened it and assured me that he would be read this book often and couldn't wait to add it to his collection! Thank you for making this possible for us.

This is a wonderful little book for somebody who loves the movie. It is a book for a kid, true...but it's not cutesy and adorable in the way we think of children's books today. It's VERY matter of fact. The illustrations are beautiful and I'm glad to have given it as a gift to a loved one.

This is a lesson on what is the true meaning of Christmas. My children grew up watching the video. This is the beginning of Christmas. For my family. Loved the book!
