I removed the previous stuffing, which has been sat on for decades with this foam. Should have done it long ago.

After researching and educating myself on furniture foam I decided the 2.8 lb / 40 lb compression was best for reupholstering our dining room chairs, and I was right. This is a much better foam than you get at the fabric store for sure and the cost is less than their lower grade foam. I'm very handy and saw the quality right off and without reservation can recommend this as 5 starsWell packaged / compressed but overnight it was 100% expanded, and we did our first chair today... Just perfect. Buy with confidence.

Probably great for furniture. I wanted to make some cosplay body accessories and it’s maybe a little challenging to get a good result with this. But i i’ll think about it next time i want to add some cushion to a chair.

Nice and firm. I purchased 5 inch form, and it expanded 4.75 inches overnight, but remained at 4.75 inches after two days.

I have a rotten cat with a clawing problem, so I'd rather not have to buy new furniture if I can avoid it, but my sofa is thoroughly worn out. I bought this foam to replace the cushions and if I can fix the cat scratches, I've probably gotten another 10 years out of my sofa now.I got the extra firm rating, in size 72 x 24 x 5.First, be prepared to buy extra supplies if you're reupholstering cushions. I suppose you could do without them, but I had to get batting and spray adhesive in order to redo my cushions. For the batting, I picked up whatever was cheapest at Joann Fabrics, and for spray adhesive, I used 3M Super 77 Multipurpose. The foam seemed to bond well with the adhesive and batting.Second, the instructions say you can cut this with a bread knife. Well, you can, but you'll want to put down some plastic or other material to catch the stray bits of foam because my living room looked like an indoor snow storm and the little stray pieces are insidious. They tracked/carried everywhere. I cut this a week ago and I'm still picking foam off the dog's fur. I think the trick is to cut with longer strokes rather than a sawing motion, but I didn't figure this out until near the end when I had to re-trim both cushions. It's so firm that I had to trim the pieces smaller than the older cushions to get them back in the covers.Now, other details -- It comes in a long, square box, vacuum packed and it takes a couple of days to inflate to full size. If you're concerned about smell, I'm sensitive to odors and there wasn't any noticeable smell to me, or it dissipated in the days I let it inflate so that was a plus.Now that the cushions are done, they sit well. It's definitely firm. I'm very overweight and it still feels incredibly solid to me. I'm actually wishing maybe I had gone down a level on firmness, but I suspect it will wear over time.The "snow" is my only complaint, and the product listing is definitely true to it's word.

I purchased 5" thick, 24x72, Extra Firm, to replace two 23x25 20-yr old couch cushions. I wanted one long cushion, so I had to re-sew the old cushion covers to combine them into one. That was a piece of work – to reconfigure piping and zippers - but all looks great now!Back to foam - this foam is the bomb! I looked for a comparison of firmness, density, length, shipping, etc., nothing beats LinenSpa prices (unless you want at least double the price elsewhere). I emailed LinenSpa CS to find out that for their Extra Firm the IFD=40 and density=2.2; are perfect for my project. The foam arrived in a laughably small box, but as you follow their instructions you will see how that (I quote) “adorable sushi roll” unravels into a perfect foam mattress within minutes. I cut my piece to 23x72 with a regular bread knife; no issues of crumbling, tearing, and whatever else some reviewers were complaining about (just watch some YouTube videos, people!). For my project, I also purchased 1-in dacron, not from LinenSpa. To those who complain that ExtraFirm Foam was too firm – are you serious? - read the instructions and watch some YouTube on how to properly select the foam for your project and purchase top foam of lesser firmness and definitely dacron. I also loved that the foam was shipped wrapped in a very large thin non-woven material which came very handy – once I glued dacron to the cut foam, I sewed that non-woven as an inner slipcover for my cushion, what a bonus! I will be returning for more foam for sure – kitchen bar stools need a makeover…

I added foam to RV dinning chairs so I could re upholster. The 1” foam is dense providing comfort and padding to chairs. The foam cut easily. Very good quality for money. I would buy again

Well packed, good quality. Exactly as advertised. I bought the 1" thickness to make a couple of foam pillows a little thicker. It is a little firm so I put this underneath and it worked perfectly. I'm happy with the purchase.

I checked the dimensions of my sofa beforehand, so the foam exactly matched and I didn't have to cut anything. The thickness and density is just the right amount, neither soft nor too hard foam. I left it unwrapped and flat for 2 days and then used it. The price is slightly high but otherwise no issues with it so far.

Used it to reupholster chairs. Was well pleased with the results. Will definitely recommend it. Also, the merchandise arrived three days before due date.
