Sahib Sadhu, The White Sadhu

A Humble Spiritual Giant !
The book title "The White Sadhu" doesn't really give the reader any real clues to the wonderful stories that are inside these pages. This book is truly for serious seekers who have an open heart and mind. What they will find is a trove of spiritual treasure. It is a delightful read and also insightful as well. Readers will find that they instantly love this man and what he has done on his own personal search for self-realization. It is told by others and shows a man who is both humble and God obsessed in his drive to find his Divine Love. There is great passion in his relentless efforts to become connected with God.I read this book after meeting this great yogi at his ashram in northern California. If I had read this first, I would not have been so causal in waiting to meet him. He comes across in person as humble and caring and shows a great sense of humor. I think that the image that others wrote about him fully captures who he truly is. He is for real and not some product of some media hype - he is a real yogi.I enjoyed and was inspired by this book. I fully give it my personal endorsements and recommendations. A worthy book to add to your spiritual library shelf at home.

I thoroughly enjoyed stories in the book visiting India myself several times
I thoroughly enjoyed stories in the book visiting India myself several times, but the author is totally misleading as spreading false notions and idol worship...I began studying Torah (which means teaching) only several years ago after undergoing serious difficulties under another so called swami...even paramahamsa...Niranjanananda Saraswati ...whose guru used the same spiritual name as the author....We are to observe commandments...do not lie...do not steal...do not murder...do not worship idols...not to travel barefoot or undergo hardship...I did not improve under the guidance of paramahamsa of Bihar School of Yoga at all...As the total world of tantra turned out to be total abhorrence...by worshipping idols we acquire their spirits...nothing else...they usually do not give any commandments...those idols...what do they give then? Fulfilling of desires?Chandi path mantras are chanted during yajna in Rikhia ashram...what do they serve for? I have been threatened by lawsuit even by BSY....it must be very bad then...this yajna...This author seems like a nice guy though...maybe we will learn about him more later...

Sage of Modern Times
Swami is truly a mystical man who deserves the utmost praise from the United States, where he currently lives. If it weren't for this man, I wouldn't know where I would be. But enough about me, let's talk about him. Sahasra Chandis? Yep, he's done them. Healing miracles, yep. Just read the frickin' book and get a clue. He's like Jesus for 2017. No holding hands, no. He gives you the tools, you work out your own problems. He teaches you how to love, how to give patience and understanding, and most importantly, how to honor the Divine mother with all your heart. Read this book if you want to learn the ways of a true saint. Namaste.

A true master
This is a story of one of the worlds greatest living sadhus who also happens to be a Westerner. Through the accounts of disciples, devotees, and friends, a picture of a somewhat mythical man comes into focus. This is a rare opportunity to glimpse into the life of a true master who's humility and reverence often make him somewhat of an enigma. Thanks to all those who provided these wonderful stories.

Captivating!
Sahib Sadhu is full of captivating stories of the life of a westerner who lived in India for decades and completed the rigorous ancient training to become a Swami. Reading this book has given me insight into how to live like a saint, and therefore has had a powerfully positive influence on my life. No matter what your religion, this book will inspire your soul.

How the Chandi became popular in the West
The Chandi Path is an old and respected sadhana for sadhus in India. Many have been the commentaries written about it. But the modern commentary written by Swami Satyananda Saraswati of Napa, CA is a masterpiece. Now this book Sahib Sadhu is the story of this Swami. It traces his growth - from a young American man with the urge to know more to his meeting with the Guru, his seva and ultimately initiation from the Guru. It is depicted with humor and gentle understanding the prejudices faced by a "Sahib" - a white man - at the hands of the native villagers and then their growing respect and acceptance of him.It is written from the viewpoint of a young village boy who was so fascinated with the Swami that he kept sneaking off into the cremation grounds to do seva for him. And when the Swami matures into a great man, so does the author - from a simple village boy to one that holds an important position in the Indian government.A wonderful heartwarming book.
