Jansal Valley Aji Amarillo Powder, 18 Ounce

My husband lived in Peru for two years and has been craving some papas a la huancaina as well as other dishes that use aji amarillo. We can't find it anywhere locally so I turned to Amazon. We got the jar of aji amarillo paste but it was so expensive (although it was delicious and he said it tasted very authentic). I figured we could make our own paste or just season whatever food we wanted if we had the actual pepper in ground, spice form. He has seasoned meat with it so far and he said it tastes really good! We haven't used it in any sauces yet but it has a very strong, potent flavor and seems to taste like the paste just in powdered form so I think it will turn out great!

This chili powder truly has a unique flavor which adds to the deliciousness of several dishes I make. Milder than cayenne with a more floral taste.

The flavor is perfect for me. Powder form gives me greater control of how I season, and it does not expire as quickly as the prepared aji in a jar.

This Ají Amarillo has the same flavor as a Bolivian AA just doesn’t have the heat. I suspect the manufacturer is not leaving enough of the seeds during grinding otherwise I would have give it 5 star review.

Great product. Very tasty! Expensive, but well worth it. This big bottle will last you a while.

Great taste

Despite what I read from other comments, the flavor is not the same as with fresh ingredients. But is something that should be expected of powdered versions, dunno why I expected otherwise.

it's a must in my kitchen, as I love the flavor of ají amarillo. I purchased a second one for my travels, as I love spice in my food and in many places I travel I can't find the spice and hint of heat I enjoy. Now I do.
