Great beginner book on roses
Great overview book, especially for someone who knows very little about rose care. This could probably be the start of a rose book collection

Essential to Rose Lovers
Growing Roses is more than a book on the delicate art of growing and gardening the most popular flower of all time. It is Author Nancy Wilson’s love and passion for the flower that certainly spills into her recommendations for growth and care. I’ve heard people say that if you talk to your plant it will grow. Others say this is just a myth. I’m inclined to believe that whatever you nurture and care for with passion and love, it will grow. Of course, that same passion and love will inspire one to research how to care for their flowers in order to be successful. Yet, Growing Roses minimizes the guess-work for you with consideration to fragrance, climate, color, the frequency with cuts, personal preference, and more. Who knew that when considering a rose, there were so many factors that contribute to success with growth? For example, Wilson quotes, “If you have very hot summers, you must choose a rose that can withstand the heat during the blooming season.” This is just one example of the author’s guide to growing roses. But what stands out is the care that the author took in helping others find the rose that speaks to them. This informative guide is essential to the lover of roses.

Rose Growers, Grab this one up!
This book taught me a lot about growing roses. The author goes into depth with lots of methods to help with picking which roses to plant (according to area and preferences along with other factors) to caring for the plants (one way of which involves 7UP believe it or not) in every way to ensure the roses will not only survive but thrive in numerous conditions. She includes important advice on plating roses, watering roses, fertilizing roses, pruning roses, preventing common rose diseases and dealing with diseases if they have them along with dealing with pest problems. She also covers how to boost roses in the spring and information on selecting cold climate roses which sound like a great option to me. There is also a glossary of terms that are often associated with roses so I now know the “rose lingo” more than I did before. It's hard to picture this book not improving on your knowledge and love of growing roses. I'm very happy I found this and will be using it as a reference guide in the future!

Clear, concise advice without a lot of fluff.
Particularly liked the way the order was placed at the door and documented. Way to go!!The book will be helpful.

A good overview of what you are getting into if you decide you want to grow roses
This book is very brief, but does give a very good overview of the rose growing process. It is short on the nitty gritty details and does not have any illustrations. Having read this book cover to cover, I searched for more in-depth information, but was glad to realize that growing roses was something I was interested in.

I Bury Plants - My Wife Raises Them From The Dead
I bury plants - "Her Ladyship" raises them from the dead. I got so much out of this little book that I loaned it to my wife so she could read and learn what has gone wrong this spring with our knock-out roses. (Mostly, they're knocked out.) Her Ladyship isn't a perfectionist by any means, but she does enough seeing a healthy stand of roses on our "estate." (Did I say that right Ms. Nancy?) I'm hoping that after Her Ladyship reads the book the two of us can revive our roses and replace our boxwoods by the house with roses this fall.Great resource! Certainly cheaper than a dozen long-stem roses. - Earl of Dead Plants

Informative
I wish things went into alittle more detail. Alot of the things left me with more questions? But a good arrangement of info. Not bad at all for the price!

Definitely does the job for beginners
Roses, for some unknown reason, became a “lockdown” thing for me and I knew absolutely nothing. This book, along with another significant source, gave me the knowledge that I needed to get going.

All the basic advice you need
Simple to understand with clear advice . No illustrations so you can check your understanding of advice. Good practical tips.

Really basic and lacks illustrations
Disappointed - rather flimsy and was not what I was hoping for. Spend a bit more and get a decent guidae

Waste of money
Disappointed in this book for the price it is more like a monthly mag than a book, no pictures or drawings and only 55 pages I would not recommend this book there are better out there

Clear, simply put advice
As a beginner to gardening, nothing more than a couple of window boxes before and now with a small garden, I found the style of writing and it’s simple layout very reassuring. It’s given me the confidence to plan a trellis of climbers and a bed with a few scented bushes.
