Queen: The Neal Preston Photographs

The guy who made Queen look how they sound
Neal Preston is the world's greatest music photographer, hands down. He's probably most famous for his work with Led Zeppelin - but he's worked with everyone who is anyone in the last 50 years. He's the photographer who made rock stars look how they sounded. That's the magic of the man.He was also Queen's tour photographer from 1976 until 1986. As a major fan of both, I was looking forward to this book in a big way, and it does not disappoint. It is a beautiful coffee table book. As s Queen fan, I thought I'd seen nearly every photo there was in some shape or form - but Neal has put together some stunning never before published photographs and included some of the most iconic shots of Freddie and the band. The book is heavy and oozes quality. Reel Art Press always go that extra mile to ensure that the art is presented beautifully and faithfully and this book is the perfect example of that.Neal's occasional commentary through the book offers a glimpse into the Queen camp from a distinctly unique position with charm and wit.If you are a fan of either, you need this book! It's the perfect companion to Neal's earlier book Exhilarated and Exhausted.

Fantastic Pictures!
This is a BIG book, even some coffee tables would groan under its weight! But the pictures in it are wonderful, many that have never before been seen. There are both colour and black and white photos that chart the different tours and albums of Queen. There is a bit of commentary as well and introductions by Brian and Roger. Queen fans will love it. My little niggle is, not being a total Queen fan, that I don't know many of the people in the pictures (apart from the band). There is a very brief list at the back of the book, but not terribly helpful.

Excellent value.
A great photo book of one of the greatest groups. Has a mix of live shots, sound checks, studio and travel shots etc. Not all the photos are unseen before but plenty of rare pictures ones to satisfy the Queen fan and get them drooling. Certainly helps you remember all those amazing live shows you attended. The quality of the paper, the photos and cover is excellent. Interesting tales of the tours etc by Neal add to the book. Sits very nicely on the shelf with all the other Queen books.

One Vision
Ten years snapping iconic AND never before seen pics of a world class band. Hard to believe all from the lens of one man. Heavy book, tasteful collection of great photos. Would have liked a little more input from the author and band alongside but a worthwhile purchase. Would have been nice to had a foreward by John also ...I miss his input on even little matters such as this. Would recommend.

Impossible to say.
The book appears to be a quality article but as it was a present for a Queen collector who won't open anything that's in any way sealed, I'd need to buy a 2nd copy to be able to give a subjective appraisal.

Superb document of masters in live music.
Regarding 2and review. Utter rubbish. These photographs were taken between 1977-1986. If you know anything about Queen and the history this book is for you.Truly stunning pictures. Not too heavy on written word. A reflection and document that Queen drove the live machine to the maximum. A band that finally appears to be getting the recognition they throughly deserve. The photographs from South America in 1981 prove what this band achieved.Buy it now and enjoy.

Bought as a gift - book is quite chunky and great quality. Had some small scratches on the back though.
