works like a charm and is super fun
I am a fan of survival games, and I am a bit obsessed with catastrophic events. Low and behold I found out about this game, and let me tell you it's awesome. despite its god awful name, and it's horrendous box art, and the fact that they went overboard when Americanizing the characters, it's really fun to play and really innovative to have been on the ps2. it's really a shame that this game isn't more popular.

Dont
It really is not a terrible game. Just don't waste your time on it. There are MANY much better games than this one.

So bad its funny.
If Ed Wood made a video game, it'd probably end up like Raw Danger.Everything about this game is bad, often times in very funny ways. Like how the bland voice actors refuse to say your characters name, or how every one looks Japanese, yet is usually blonde. The dialogue is also hilariously cheesey, horribly timed, and executed with almost no enthusiasm.Unfortunately, the bad is also present in the controls, gameplay, and, well, just about everything important for a good game.I can't tell you how hard it was to control your character, whether it be lining up your character to respond to the environment, talking to people, even grabbing and pushing a cart (I ended up having an easier time pulling it, but since they didn't bother with a pulling animation, my character ended up moonwalking the thing into the dining hall). The game does have its charms, usually the result of that good old Japanese quirk factor (I love being able to have the in-game compass icon be the city's cat mascot or a pedometer that actually keeps track of your steps), or the customization options are nice, you can wear a ton of weird clothes as you save people from disaster, and the dialogue trees allow you to be a total jerk to just about everyone if you want. But that doesn't save this broken, frustrating game. The disaster-rescue concept seems like a pretty cool game idea, and its certainly one thats underused. But "Raw Danger" is just painful to play.

A Charming Japanese Title With Some Flaws
Raw Danger is a 2006 survival horror game where you play as a plethora of characters trying to survive a major catastrophe. And while this is technically a horror game it is closer to an adventure game, as you will spend your time climbing perilous architecture as it falls apart around you while searching for items needed to continue the story. You will also be unraveling a mystery that is very similar to a government cover-up, although not exactly. The cool thing about this game is that there aren't many like it, but this is actually the second entry in the series. The first game is called Disaster Report which has similar gameplay, there was a third game that was Japanese only on the PS Vita, and the fourth one is already out in Japan but is being localized for the PS4 and PC coming soon. They are all really charming games in a unique setting and it also has some cool features where the actions you commit as one character will affect the other characters you play as down the line. It also has that old-school janky charm to it as well which plenty of nostalgic players will love. The survival system is also extremely complicated, and you will need to keep warm by wearing different clothing, eating food, and overall trying to stay as dry as possible in a flooded environment. It is really neat since you don't have much in the way of enemies, and you don't really kill anyone or fight anything in this game. Now for the cons. The obvious ones are the writing and voice acting reaches into the territory of "so bad it is good" category which could be a pro if that is your thing. Another weird thing about it is that literally every single character in the game is blonde. Yep, everyone. I don't know why but it has something to do with the English version as to I guess make them look "American" which is kinda weird. Overall the localization was kind of a mess so you'll see some wonky stuff every now and again. For example: after you beat the game it asks you "do you want to delete your saved data", however it is ACTUALLY asking you "do you want to SAVE your game data." So be ready for that. Additionally, it can be a bit boring sometimes if you prefer action games as there isn't any type of combat system so you'll be more fighting against the collapsing city around you. Basically, if you didn't like Death Stranding you probably wouldn't like this game. And it really isn't for anyone but for me it was great, and if it was more accessible my rating would probably be a 4/5 instead. But there are some game design choices that are questionable and you have to expect jank with a game like this. Another problem is that this game really isn't scary, even if the situation would be scary in real life. So you won't get much fear or tension from it especially since you have an abundance of save locations and places to warm-up, making it quite easy even on hard difficulty. The North American release is glitched as well which makes you not lose heat as quickly as the other versions, making it the easiest version out of all of the releases.Overall, I think you should get this game if jankiness or weird Japanese games like Yakuza are appealing to you, but otherwise, you can watch a playthrough online instead. Adam from YourMovieSucks has a great one on YouTube that I would recommend. But if you are an old-school PS2 fan this should totally be in your library, as long as you can find it at a good price.

Survival horror minus the horror
I'll give it credit for being original. You try to survive a flood instead of the normal zombies. I took off a star for cheesy dialog and just OK graphics.

Just What I Wanted
This game is exactly what I was looking for. I've been a lover of Disaster Report since it first came out, and was desperately looking for another fix. I knew a sequel'd come out, but I figured it'd never come out in America. Turns out it did, but under a completely different name!Instead of playing as one character, you play through the stories of multiple people through the same disaster from different perspectives, which is really nice. Things that you wouldn't think matter do, and things that you think would matter don't. The thirst meter is gone and replaced with an entirely new system that depends entirely on your body heat and how wet you are from the environment. Haven't run into any glitches so far, but the system is such that it's probably entirely possible if you step in the wrong place at the wrong time.Really fun if you're a fan of the prequel!

Terrible...but will make you laugh.
This game reminds me of one of those lousy low budget b-movies,where the cast is unknown and the acting is hideous. But although it's a train wreck, you just can't help but laugh at the whole mess. That describes Raw Danger perfectly.Everything about this game sucks.Bad graphics, bad gameplay, bad voice acting, just BAD BAD BAD! Buy it to laugh at... And nothing more.

Oh my goodness, this game...
This game is many things. Unique and amazing are two of them. If you're looking for an experience that isn't your typical (j)RPG, please pick this up. It needs more publicity for the memories it produces.
