It does leak when my daughter played it around and shook it as this doesn't have lid/seal. But this is better 'training' cup (becuase kids would learn not to hold upside-down) and serve its purpose very well and easy to clean.

It is better than a regular cup for sure. But it needs improvement.

Ok. I’m updating my review. And changing this to 4 stars. Once I flipped over the clear portion and tried to click it in the other way it slowed down the flow and locked it in tighter that it wouldn’t fall out. So user error on my part. It still could use some design changes to make sure that there is no way for it to fall out when thrown.I bought this as a trainer cup for my daughter. The slow setting IS NOT slow. The first time she dropped the cup the plastic part also flew out of the cup and the water spilled everywhere. It’s purely design flaws. If the plastic piece was placed under the lid versus on top it wouldn’t have the opportunity to fall out. Not worth the money.

This cup is perfect for transitioning to an open cup. It is not leak proof because it's not supposed to be, it is supposed to function pretty much like an open cup except you have some control over the flow. The insert in the lid can be turned so that you can slow down how much liquid comes out. It's very easy to clean. It fits really well in a toddler's hands.
