According to the book's biographical statement, `Connor Champion is a nom de plume for award winning author Carl Christensen - who works for Slow Dating - the UK's favourite speed dating company.' What Connor Champion has assembled here are commonly heard and not so commonly heard and down right original pick up lines. It likely took many evenings in social bars and other gathering spots to hear all of these so it probably most of them originated in the tongue in cheek mind of the author. A great fun read! I found this randomly in a book club that I'm in and figured, what the hell. Totally worth getting... smart and witty

A lot of cute, clever, funny and even shockingpick-up lines.Could use an editor to fix typos and missing wordshere and there, but all in all a fun read. A coupleresonated enough that I might use them for fun.

It's been more than thirty years since anyone used a pick up line to introduce himself to me and many of the lines were old enough to be around then. The trouble with me reviewing this book is that I never liked pick up lines so I asked my 25 year old daughter, who is positively gorgeous and gets hit on all the time, what she thinks. She said that if the line has anything whatsoever to do with sex, it's a major turn-off. Anything that is insulting or crude is an absolute NO, whether it is said with a smile or not. A sincere compliment is okay; it won't enable you to seduce her but she might dance or have a drink with you. Unfortunately, taking out those two categories eliminates at least half of the lines in the book.One thing that I really disliked about the book was the hype. There is absolutely no pick up line that will guarantee you a successful outcome, nor is there a magic line that will work on all women. The most you can hope for from using a pick up line, even if it's sweet and/or cute, is the woman being willing to continue to be with you. Just be ready with ideas of possible topics for conversation if you hit it off; a pick up line will only open the door, but you still have to go through it on your own. Remember to be very careful about using funny lines because it is very easy to offend someone if they don't share your sense of humor.To tell the truth, I really hated all the lines in the crude category. They were all insulting and inappropriate; in fact, those lines had no redeeming qualities whatsoever! I know there are women who find such comments to be amusing but, since you know nothing about the woman that you want to approach, i think that you're taking an awfully big gamble if you use those lines. I liked the romantic category the best (and so did my daughter) followed by the corny category. Try to sound spontaneous and not like you memorized the line ahead of time (even if you did).Since the book is really short, it might be worth your time to comb through the lines for some good lines to use to introduce yourself. My daughter's advice if you want to meet a great woman is to make sure you are nicely dressed (don't forget to brush your teeth and use deodorant), be sincere and say something nice. (Some of the pick up lines in the book certainly fit.) And the old standby of giving your name and asking her for her name is a good one to fall back on.I was asked to give an honest review by the author. Very funny!!!A word of warning, though.Some girl may get offended by some of the pick up lines in the book.Be careful!!

*Disclosure* I was contacted by the author and given a free copy of this title for the purposes of reviewing.*It's a quick read, for sure, and anyone over, oh, 25 or so has probably heard most or all of the lines. For me, there were a few rare exceptions (Fat penguin!) and there were several repeats across sections. As I read, I and my companions (one of which was female) had some good laughs. And really, regardless of how this book is presented, that's the most probable outcome if one tried using one of these lines at a bar, club, or other social gathering. Perhaps speed dating, which is mentioned as something the author is involved in, is different. After all, one has a trapped audience so to speak. There is one exception I'll make to the statement - it works well *if you already have a girl* and you're trying to get some giggles out of her and/or are having fun conversation.

This is such a fun book to read. A girl can wonder sometimes if men really believe these can work, but I gather that they do as the author should know best, he actually works in the dating industry for a dating company.There was a great collection for the romantic, the funny, the rambunctious and the lothario, so no matter who you are, if you want to impress the ladies, you'll find your ideal pick up line in this book and there are even a few for girls.Thoroughly fun read and highly recommended!

This is a small book and does repeat some of the chat up lines in different chapters. Some are good and some very old classic lines that you would never use.
