Someone Like You: A Novel

Good story but the love part was creepy
The book was well written and the message of family was beautiful. The love story just seemed creepy to me, as much as the author wanted us to believe the couple fell in love, the reminder he loved the sister first (and that's the reason he reached out) just couldn't leave my head.

I couldn't put down this book!
I found this book last year and started reading it and to my surprise, it was written back in 2020 or 2019? I would love to see this story continue between Maddie and Dawson! It's just that good! I won't give the story here as I have seen many people do that. Please! Karen Kingsbury write another book and finish their beautiful love story. I wouldn't mind seeing children in the future. This book is just too good! I read it in a day! I couldn't put it down. Please continue the story. I am so excited when you do. I will keep watching and making sure I don't miss out on anything. I love this story!

Grab a Tissue. A wonderful Story!
I love Karen Kingsbury books and I have nearly all of them. This is one of my favorites, but I didn’t think so at first. In the beginning Maddie seemed like an immature and self centered 22 year old. (I still think she might have been).A stranger informs her that her parents are not her biological parents. She does not believe this for a minute and tells them of the conversation. However they admit it is true. The fact is her mother used in vitro fertilization in order to become pregnant with Maddie.Maddie becomes extremely angry and leaves home, her fiancé and her new dream job to find her biological parents and a sister she didn’t know she had. She believes her whole life was a lie and will never forgive her parents. The stranger who shared the news with her was her sister’s boyfriend. This is who she contacts and runs to in order to get more information. He also is a devout Christian the same as Maddie. The rest of the story is about the information she learns from him about her sister and her biological parents. In the end she does reunite with her family. She learns what true family means and how to forgive. And that God is always with us no matter what. She also matures a lot. There are lots of tears but also lots of love and joy. And God reigns through it all.A wonderful story that can be read as a stand alone book even though it is involves the Baxter family.

I was sad when it was over
Karen Kingsbury is the BEST writer with the best stories that keep my faith flexing and me inspired! There is always a plot line that is so uncontrived and not your normal formula where you already know the ending! It also makes you think. You know that question people ask? Why do bad things happen to good people? Well, Karen Kingsbury always has a message about how God uses even bad things in His plans. I am a firm believer that we are in a fallen world and that God allows free choice and so we have pain and suffering but He hurts with us and can always make something good come from the worst situations and sometimes the lessons are our blessings. I hate spoilers so I won't even share the story but I must say I was sad when it was over. But in Karen Kingsbury style I am hoping for a sequel to this Baxter Family book. My only request would be more MP3 availability so I can listen to more when I am on my commutes!

Wow
Interesting read. First if all, I always love KK's writing style, including italicized comments from the Holy Spirit that the character can "hear". Also, she inputs Scripture throughout the storyline.appropriate to the moment. This novel is full of comments the reader can use in witnessing to whomever the Lord sends across the path. And He does do that. KK's many novels I have read have enabled me to minister to many.Back to Someone Like You: the storyline is new to me. Because of that it took me several pages to digest the impact in vitro fertilization may have on the lives of all involved. Emotional adjustment can run the gamut. In the end, God, if allowed, can use it for His purpose. KK has woven this into the storyline masterfully, creating a roller coaster within the reader's emotions.I am blessed to read another of her novels enlightening me on the social issues impacting our lives today.

More than just a romance
This book was a page turner. The twists pulled me in. I loved the deep faith and the coming to terms with God’s plan. The only thing that wasn’t there that I kept waiting for was the comparison to us being God’s adopted family.

A very gripping story with every emotion involved in and with the characters. Decisions and choices both good and not so good that have a far reaching many people over a number of families. Laughed, loved and also shed a tear or two. Greatly recommend this book by one of my favourite writers.

Beautiful, moving, and inspiring!
I've read many books by Karen Kingsbury, and again, I was so blessed by this beautiful story.Jesus and family is truly all we need. Whether it is family by blood, or chosen. And through His blood, we're all family anyway.

Ok but lost the Lustre
I liked the story overall but having read and followed the Baxter Family from the beginning, I feel the Baxter story to be getting kind of watered down. As a stand alone it is an pretty good book.
