I have a 20 year old Bianchi road bike. I used it heavily for a few years, less for a few more and then it sat for 10 years. About 2 years ago I started riding my bike to work again. It is only 10 miles but 7 of those miles are on a dirt path. A few months into it the original rear derailleur fell apart on the way home from work. I didn't want to spend much money on such an old bike. I saw derailleurs that cost $15 and $70 and up. With nothing in between. So I thought this cheap derailleur is worth a try. It was easy to replace and it worked fine after a little adjustment. That was two years ago, and it is still going strong even going on the rough, sandy dirty dirt path. Even if it does fail I have so little invested I can afford to replace it again.

I had this is an OE part on my bike for a year and a half now. It's great for recreational riding, but the return spring is fairly loose and causes the chain to bounce around on the single tracks I ride. Also, the shifting isn't as good as the top models, but put it in good use and it will last you a good while. Maintain the unit and the life is extended too. I place grease (teflon or white standard grease works well, waterproof marine grease is even better in wet or muddy conditions and lasts a longer time too.) in between the moving pivots to help keep the derailleur smooth while moving the chain. My unit is from Singapore, which is very uncommon to see in bike parts. To conclude, this derailleur is great for recreational use and maintenance is mandatory for such an object. I might buy new jockey wheels or upgrade the unit entirely very soon.
