Puritas PRS-01 1, White

This is the 3rd time I've ordered this replacement filter and I've been completely satisfied each time. The first time I installed it the water only trickled out and I thought it was because of the filter. After talking to a couple of friends I learned that it probably wasn't installed properly and sure enough I found that I had not inserted and twisted it into its cradle properly. Once I seated it correctly (which is really easy to do once you know how) it has never given me a problem (no more trickling, gurgling, or air escaping noises). It installs quickly and easily, the water tastes good, and it lasts the recommended lifetime. My coffee maker manufacturer recommends using filtered water. Bottled water can be expensive and water filtered through the Made in the USA, UKF8001 Replacement Water Filter by Puritas does more than an adequate job, serves the same purpose, and makes excellent coffee. I recommend this product because it works just as well as the manufacturer's recommended replacement and it's a whole lot cheaper. I especially appreciate that it is a made in America product and will continue to purchase this water filter unless the quality changes.Update July 21, 2019The UKF8001 Replacement Water Filter by Puritas PRS-01 is still an excellent product but the sellers have begun raising the prices to double what I previously paid so I'm going to look around for another quality product that's cheaper.

So I gave it 3 stars so as not to look like a paid reviewer... or maybe I'm a jerk. Not sure which yet.I was concerned about all the comments surrounding replacement filters leaking and causing property damage. I really don't want to come home to a pool in my house.So I bought this and put it in my fridge and promptly forgot about it. (looking back, I am an idiot). So far I haven't seen any issues, we did the whole "fill it with water before installing and then run a crapton of water through it before letting it fill the ice cube trays", etc. and now the water seems nice and clear, runs at a good rate, and the autistic boy who periodically visits my home and complains about the status of my filters seems to be appeased... at least with this filter.We've been running on this for about a month now. No issues yet. I would have given five stars but I want to wait a while longer just to be certain. Some people claimed that the filter blew up after a few months of service and I figure this way the company will eventually ask me to chime in again.

I have always ordered the brand name, believing it to be superior quality. However, the price of the brand name has increased so much that I started shopping for something else. Read through many reviews, found this one with almost all good reviews and I was sold on price and made in America. Worth trying out.It arrived and I installed it into my fridge without a problem, good fit, no leaking. The filter was noisier for the first 2 gallons of water, more air, flow much faster, which made me wonder if the faster flow would result in less filtering. At first, I feared that was the case. A lot more air bubbles and some debris floating in my water.However, after those 2 gallons, the water was clear, flow still faster and water tastes great. We have used it for a few weeks now and the water tastes the same. I saw one reviewer mentioning chlorine taste,which is not what I experience. I will order this one again.

I have tried several filter by different companies and this one is by far the better of them. This one is simple to install just remove the old one by turning it counter clockwise and then put this one in its place and twist about 1/4 turn clockwise. You will feel it tighten up.When finished installing the filter I put my water pitcher under the water spout and let it run til the air is out of the system which is about 2 or 3 minutes. I didn't see any thing floating in my water like a few others stated in their review, mine was clear from the start, and had no odor or taste. I highly recommend this filter. And knowing its made in the USA helps a lot.

I’ve been buying different brands of filters to try to save money and when I learned what the Chinese made filters have in them I was disgusted. They burn all sorts of garbage and use that charcoal in the filters. I am trying to buy items made in the USA and found this awesome filter. The water tastes so much better and my ice maker makes full sized ice cubes now. I’m guessing the filters made in China have water flow restrictions. Great product.

Considering the huge price difference between this filter and the one I have been purchasing from the Maytag store, we decided to try it. The reviews I read seemed to justify the purchase for a trial at least. It arrived quickly. Installed the same as the old one. Gurgled for a bit and now is functioning the same as all before. We have hard water, no chlorine. But, we don't seem to notice any difference. Glad we tried it.

The hardest part of ordering this filter which works perfectly was finding an article that explained why the filter # seemed to apply to other refrigerators than the one I needed it for. Turns out this filter is used by 120 different models. I read it in a review I found by accident. The filter is exactly what I needed.

No special offer to try it, just looking for a cheaper alternative. Followed all instructions for installing/using. I thought the water tasted fine. My wife insisted it had a funny taste. Finally after some time of this difference of opinion I relented and just swapped it out for the original filter. Immediately she said the taste was gone. So there you have it, two different opinions, same water source, same appliance.In summation, for those of you with more discerning sense of taste, this might not be the right choice for you.
