Origin story with a harsh cliffhanger
I loved the start of Grace and Asher’s HEA even knowing what happens. This is a sweet, swoony childhood friends to soulmates origin story that ends on a cliffhanger. Asher and Grace grew up next door to each other but drifted apart at the end of high school. Now four years later Asher realizes Grace is the one and Grace is all in. This book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, strong friendships, laughs, messy families, sexy times, real life issues, imperfect characters, tragedy, and so much love. While short, the story also includes witty dialogue, characters with depth, and an engaging storyline. Unfortunately there is not a HEA at the end of this novella but I knew that going in since we knew about Grace and Asher from the Miles series. I am looking forward to see them finally get their HEA in book 2 which is the only reason I read this book.

One To Fight For
Asher and Grace have grown up together, and always known that some day they would marry and raise a family together. However fate had a different plan and it seems things are not going well.

I was really annoyed with this starter book of this series! No, I will not be tricked into buying next book in series! Although the book is a pleasant slow read to help with falling asleep. My favorite type of pleasure reading. The disappointment of the ending actually caused me to be not happy and couldn't fall asleep. The multi generation characters were well written and the small town feeling is also pleasant but the author is inconsiderate to not include warning to be aware of a cliffhanger in description of book. The ending was such a let down that I was not surprised at the explanation by the author. She apologized and says it was with understanding that readers would be unhappy. She was right it does make readers unhappy. As much as I like family series books this is the first book I've read by this author and the last! I love Kindle Unlimited because it's such a convenience for someone like me that reads over 100+ books a year to easily find books of genre's that are pleasing to me. I would also like to acknowledge all the authors out there that share the imagination, talent and hard work for the pleasure of others. If you don't like cliffhangers of major characters skip this book.

Worth the read
Okay yes this story had it moments of me absolutely sobbing. But it was heart warming. From the beginning I was hooked.

Curious where this goes
Having read another series of her books I sort of forgot how this one had to turn out. It's startling and not as good as the other series I read but I'm thinking this had to set the stage for the next few books. I'm holding back judgment at the moment.

Best friends to lovers, small town romance, MAJOR angst
Prior to this book, I'd read the Miles family series so I'd already been introduced to Grace and her family. While only a few basics were shared which were mainly about the connection to that family, there was a brief mention of her fiance. So I began reading this book knowing that some sort of serious drama was involved concerning the couple. Grace and Asher are a great couple. They grew up as next door neighbors and best friends, but had drifted apart when they reached their teens. Their feelings for each other had changed, but both of them were reluctant to acknowledge them. They were anxious that their feelings weren't returned and that to share what they actually felt would sabotage their friendship and the closeness between their families. But the author brings them together as a couple quickly (but realistically) and everything seems to be falling into place for them. Then, everything falls apart. Even knowing from the brief mention in the Miles books that something catastrophic was going to happen to them, that scenario is heart-wrenching when it occurs. This one does end with a cliffhanger, but the conclusion to their story is already published, so at least you can move on to that right away. Excellent writing. Asher's brothers are both interesting and entertaining. I'm glad there's already a whole series about them.and it was very satisfying

A intro to the series!
Asher and Grace have a beautiful history and it shocked me to the core that tragedy strikes, especially the way it did. This is a perfect way to make us fall in love with the couple and to introduce the characters we will be reading about! Can’t wait. Now, even though my heart is broken, I will be getting the next book!

Heart-touching love story.
This is the first book of Claire Kingsley that I have read, and trust me from now on I am going to read each and every book ever written by her. The book has such deep message of loving and protecting of our loved ones at any cost. The pure intention of Asher to protect Grace at any cost was really admiring. The fact that I loved the most about the story was the realistic writing. The message that, ‘not everything in life goes according to a plan’. No matter how good you have planned your life and how hard you are working on it, there are some things that are beyond your plan and hard work. And of course, amazing stories like this can never fit in one book. The small moments of life mentioned in their story are the real essence of their love right from the start. The childhood moments like sharing a gum, the funny feeling in the stomach was the cutest. Both of them trying to date other people but not able to get serious, only made their love for each other stronger. One night brought them together and they savoured all the happy moments with each other. Until one night, that tore them apart. It was heart-breaking, the pain, terror, hurt, the feeling of bring helpless is terrific, you know it’s not right but still there is nothing you can do but wait.I really admired all the characters in the book, everyone is different and has their own uniqueness and I really loved them. Gram, the one who always gives you the best advice. She is the only one who could ever handle Bailey boys. All the boys have different personalities perfectly suited to their character. But all of them together are wild. They are the ones you don’t want to mess with.I really loved the book. It contains everything a good book can have and a reader could ask for, best story, great plots, love, romance, comedy, heart break, some great advices and much more. I am looking forward to read the next book as soon as possible.

Childhood sweet hearts who struggle to admit to more, fear ruining everything... then life happens
He fears making things awkward between their families if things don't work out between them. She thinks he is not interested because... how could he?Until they finally admit to their feelings, their families accept their love and everything seems on the road to a happily ever after. That's without counting on the small town's feud which has devastating consequences on their future together. The book doesn't exactly end in a HEA, I suppose reading at least the next one in the series is necessary. The writing is good, the editing flawless, which makes the reading experience very pleasant. I'll definitely read more from this author.
