Cal-Van Tools 39300 Ford Triton 3 Valve Insert Set, 1 Pack, Brown

This tool applies when your spark plug breaks leaving metal (threads) in the cylinder head. Buy a 1/2 inch bit and drill out the old threads and porcelain. Use the guide tool and avoid getting into the spark plug tip which could fall into the cylinder. Use the reamer to bore out the aluminum cylinder head. Then, tap and install the thread insert. At this point you can pull the tip using the Lisle 65700 tool. If the old spark plug metal collar remains stuck in the head, use an extractor or sharp drill bit to pull it out. And finally you can install the new plug. The M16x1.5 insert is the same size internally as the original threads. Five stars if the kit included a drill bit and instructions.

It had everything I ordered that you see in the kit. Unfortunately I bought the kit for a 3 valve and my truck was a 2 valve. Still a 5 star review. Not Amazon's fault.

Very good product. Make sure to get the right kit. I have 14mm spark plugs ,but was sent the kit for 16mm spark plugs. My mechanic installed the insert and didn't figure out why the 14mm plugs were to small. Then I read the directions and 1/3 of the way down it said not for vehicles w/ 14mm spark plugs ,but the rest of the entire paper said it was the correct kit and coincided with the make and year and proper engine specs. Now I have a rigged up insert and 14mm plug w/ another insert on it to fit the new aluminum insert. Make sure you check your plug size and it matches the kit and be sure to READ specs before purchasing. NO fault to cal-van at all. I charge my mechanic with the error. There's always a solution to every problem.

This tool performed as advertised. It is well made and designed for precision drilling and tapping of the cylinder head. The directions were clear and easy to follow. Would recommend for anyone needing to do this type of repair on a Ford 3 valve Triton engine.

One (1) of the Eight (8) inserts is defective, broken threads near the top. I have shop time available this Friday and wanted do all Eight plugs at same time. How do I get One (1) insert replaced by seller? Otherwise, quality of the tool looks great, instructions simple and clear. I hope it works as good as it looks.

This worked great and had good instructions. I was able to repair the spark plug in about 5 minutes. My truck has since then died from other unrelated complications but this tool works great.. as an old vet that worked the farms around here once said, "The surgery was a success but the goat died, who was next?"

Was easy to install. Didn’t quit fix my problem but I believe that’s a ford manufacturer failure not this item.
