Fun game that can be tweaked to your level!!
A great game for anyone -Super great for any who has teenagers… I will admit, that was after we made a few adjustments!!We first played this as a family: college kiddos with our youngest being 17yr old. Since, I purchased specifically for his crowd as a quarantine option.. I am writing review in respects to the tween genre- (just in case anyone else may plan to use for the same caveat/age group..)Quick background… Our youngest joined our family via adoption. Born into heavy drug exposure and abuse from conception to 3yr old. to say there is a learning deficit- is an understatement! At almost an adult age- he struggles to read and comprehend basic instructions with major cognitive disabilities- and can become Intimidated and not give things a try. Looking for something easy to understand w/out major need for game reading.. I found myself grasping for a simple, fun and age appropriate game for him to feel confident with. But, after playing this as a family, I saw with just a few tweaks- we could make this something that met our needs with him... Jackpot!!So, what are the tweaks?First of all, the string provided is bound up tight to fit in the box BUT, the string does not like to straighten out very well… And that matters in this game! * The concept being- you are given a shape to “create” using a string verses a pen/paper. We also found, one string was limiting- 2 made it a lot more fun.. easier?? Maybe but, I would consider it still a challenge for any who play!! Trust me, it’s a bit harder than you think-**We added our own string (aka just a standard shoe lace) and we also added x2 of them- allowing players to use 2 strings to create an image vs. just x1, was a total riot! We did add x1 white and x1 black string- and made up a point system- more points for designing with x1 string over using x2. For example we did: 10pts for creating image with x1 string- 5pts for creating image with x2 strings-And the first one to 50 (you can pick high/low # depending on how long you want game to last..) the 1st to reach that #- WiNs!! That’s it..Yes! We tweaked the game to fit our needs- But know, the basic concept of this game still is quite similar if following actual rules. (Minus an extra string!) Either way you play it’s a fun take on a game with a Pictionary + charades vibe. With us manipulating the game to our circumstances actually made it more enjoyable for the whole family…**So, take note there’s A LOT of give to make this more conducive to different abilities… For that reason, I give five stars for the fun we had playing..!! For the confidence it gave my teenager, I’d give this 10stars- Hands down!!I realize, this is a unique twist on a standard review but, do hope it can still help in your decision… Feel free to let me know!

Fun, family-friendly, rather quick, and 2 levels of play
- Made in China- For 4 to 10 players- Takes about 20 mins per game- Ages 13+- includes a small hourglassThe string is a thicker type of shoelace. Sturdy enough, bendy. Works fine.I took this to work with me since it needs at least 4 players, but it lets up to 10 play so it was particularly useful for staff and residents to be able to get in on it together. I work in a rescue shelter and all the residents are in various year-long programs. Games are a great way to build on bonding and friendliness which helps the residents, too.The instructions are quite easy to understand. It's basically Pictionary with string. It does, however, have two levels of play you can pick from. For simple play, scoring is simple - 1 point per correct guess. For more challenge, there are other things like challenge words and differences in scoring, forbidden words, etc.A couple of simple games and you'll be ready for the challenging version. It's pretty fun and very clean.Don't forget to use the Smile.Amazon.com address - It's an Amazon program where many everyday things you buy will generate a small donation from Amazon to the charity of your choice. Strong concept, but could use some minor improvements
We play a lot of games in our household. Board, video, card, online..you name it, our family plays it. This review is based on the opinion of 2 adults (male and female) and 2 kids (age 9 and 11). Granted the recommended age is 13+, my kids play a great deal of games outside of their age range. They are quick learners and are competitive.First off, the game is well packaged and the instructions are easy for a 9 yr to read by themselves. On the side of the box are other games made by fireside games, which we'll have to try later. :) Included is 2 decks of cards, 1 looped string, 1 sand timer, a pad of score sheets, 1 pencil and a rule sheet. The four of us played 2 games, each taking 2 turns per game. Since the timer is roughly 1 minute, the game took about ~16 minutes for use to complete 1 game. The word selection on the cards were easy to read even for a 9 yr. The rule to keep the string on the ground/table was a bit limiting for the children who felt it would be easy if they could pick it up. It really is just charades with the requirement of drawing with a looped string. On a side note, the scoring rules does lead to many opportunities for ties which we encountered in both our games played. For the most part, our family had a good time, but we all feel it still lacks a couple of things that could make it more fun. For example, the kids kept saying if the looped string was not looped or if there was another string, they could be more creative with their solution. Another issue we had was that the string which it came with, wasn't straight. It had ripples from how it was packaged so forming it into shapes wasn't well represented. In conclusion, it's a decent game, especially if you enjoy charades, but for the $20 price, I would expect a bit more.
