South Shore City Life Wall Mounted Media Console, 66", Weathered Oak

For the price it was definitely worth it. I was able to assemble it by myself. Mounting it in the wall took an extra hand but I had no issues. Looks great in my living and have no complaints.

I bought this unit without reading reviews, because I loved the way it looked as well as how cheap it was. After it shipped, I then started reading reviews and got absolutely terrified. So many people claim that this is a monster to assemble, and that it requires after-market modifications lest it sit sagging on the wall or flat out collapse. That is not the case for me.The instructions were very simple to follow. In fact - it even instructed me to put on music while assembling - and that make it quite relaxing and pleasant. I easily put it together and then debated for several hours whether I wanted to chance hanging it per factory instructions or try modifying it. I decided to give the factory install a chance.Mounting was simple. The only hiccups I ran into was that I believe this mount kit was designed for 16" spaced studs, and mine house is 24". Easy fix - I just drilled my own holes in the bracket they supplied and continued as normal. Secondly, the final step is to drill bolts with washers as a second security. I had my drill set to drill, and it jammed the first washer straight into the particle board. My own fault, but a testament of how fragile this stuff is if you don't treat it properly.I have the shelf loaded with all the kid's gaming systems and a few decorations and feel confident that it will hold. It looks great, is sturdy, and was simple to assembly. Highly recommend.My advice is - follow instructions, use 4 studs in the wall, use a square driver bit in your drill for the screws, and listen to music.

Nice and looks fine but annoyed that it came with a crack & bent/warped edges from poor packaging. Not enough damage to go through the trouble of sending it back but definitely disappointing. Wouldn’t buy from this company again.

I ordered this floating entertainment center which arrived broken, and not just a little. The packaging on this product is horrible and does nothing to protect the contents.So I called and they said that they would replace it as long as it wasn’t 50 percent broken. Oh yeah, well what if it was?! It was due to their own negligence.Anyway, they sent me out all five of the broken pieces and I was able to put together. But even then, the other parts arrived again without an protection and just loose in a big box. I’ve ordered plenty from SouthShore, and this was by far the worst.

TL;DR: Nice shelf, close to being perfect, but due to a few aftermarket modifications and one poor instruction issue, it gets 3 stars.Full review:Purchased and installed this floating shelf yesterday​. It is very nice and fairly inexpensive. While particle board, it still looks very nice.This shelf lost two stars, one for weak wall attachment and one for poor design/craftsmanship in the part (step 11) where you have to hammer in pegs.Weak wall attachment design. The aluminum bar you attach to the wall is strong as are the aluminum brackets that go on the back of the shelf, but the screws you use to attach the wall brackets to the shelf are weak and too small. I spun on just installing it, so I was extremely worried about the shelves strength, especially when the shelf itself is pretty heavy.In conjunction with that, the weak brackets made it where the shelf wasn't perpendicular to the wall (not level). It tended to pull from the wall slightly and want to hang down in the front a bit. I corrected this by shimming the lower edge by the wall.Last part of the poor wall design was the brackets/strength. I put in 3" exterior wood screws with 2" washers directly into the studs inside the shelves (see pictures). This made the shelf very secure compared to how it was. I recommend using the supplied wall brackets to get the shelf in place and then secure it better directly into the studs.Second issue, poor design/craftsmanship/instructions. This may be partially my fault, but in step 11 it has you hammer in these 4 black pegs. Well I may have but them into hard or hitting them in on carpet, but the end result was the peg pushed through the top of the shelf slightly (see picture). This could be easily resolved by adding a note in the instructions to "place board A on hard surface before hammering".But for those of you putting this together, you can easily fix this by placing "A" in a hard floor or placing something hard and flat behind it while installing the black pegs.Conclusion: this is a very nice looking shelf after a few aftermarket modifications. It wouldn't take much to get it to a 5 star shelf. If you have a little "can do" attitude this will still be a very nice shelf for the price.

Premièrement, le meuble est d'une facilité à assembler pour que n'importe qui en soit capable Utiliser un tournevis, pas de perceuse). Une fois assemblé, le tout est solide. Le fini est beau et la qualité est exact à ce qu'on peut s'attendre pour ce prix. La conception est bonne puisqu'il y a de l'espace derrière les panneaux pour passer les fils. Si vous prévoyez passer un fil par le dessous, pensez à passer le branchement avant d'installer le panneau arrière puisque l'ouverture est limité. NOTE: Cependant, il manquait la barre de métal permettant d'installer le meuble au mur. J'ai contacté la compagnie par téléphone et ce fut facile de faire venir la pièce. Elle devrait arriver d'ici 5 à 10 jours, ce qui est un peu frustrant. IMPORTANT: Comme il m'a été signifié par le représentant et comme certains commentaires sur le produit, il est primordial d'installer le meuble sur la barre de fixation ET de visser dans les fentes du meuble directement dans les montants. Le meuble est lourd, ne pas l'installer dans le gypse, même avec des ancrages à gypse, cela ne fera pas. Je ferai un update une fois que j'aurai terminé l'installation.

Very happy with the purchase. Less one start cuz a buble due to manufacturing deflect and really visible (front of the tv stand). Otherwise it’s a sturdy and great quality product overall. Easy to mount and hold great. Another complaint is the manual said the item place inside the shelve only limited to 25lb where as the one place on top is 100lb. The product description didn’t say that and should mention that so people can make inform decisions when they purchase the item.

The media console came exactly as shown and described. The color in the photo was a good representation of what was received. The packaging was done very well and all the pieces came without any scratches, dents or gouges. Assembly was easy with two people and probably took around 30 minutes (It would of been possibly quicker if our two children were not climbing over my wife and I).My only complaint would be around the thin metal mounting bracket used to attach the console to the wall. As described my other reviewers, its somewhat flimsy and does not hold the media console tight to the wall. I would also be concerned any weight beyond 3 or 4 devices with some media would pull this unit off the wall (someone accidentally leans on it or a kid decides to hang off it). Just to be safe I used a couple screws with washers through the console into wall studs to further secure it.

***follow up****After 2 years, the wood ripped from the 3 brackets that mount on the long wall bracket. We were very disappointed with this as it makes it impossible to remount.*This wall console was easy to put together with 2 people. Instructions were very clear & easy to follow. It looks exactly as we expected and everyone who has seen it loves it as much as we do. Very happy with this purchase!

I am giving this 5 stars because of the customer service and value for price. Overall the unit is great, it's not the highest quality but it's also not very expensive.When we received ours a piece was broken and south shore was incredibly easy to contact and didn't hesitate to send out a replacement part quickly.
