This is a fabulous guide to Western publications from 1920 right up to date. The evolution of Western novels (as well as some comic books) is played out through the individual reviews of over 200 titles. I've marked a number down for reading - if only I can find them at a decent price, as some are long out of publication. All the great authors are covered. For anyone looking at sampling Westerns then this acts as a great guide from the classics, through the heyday of the 1950s to the revisionist and Spaghetti inspired titles and series of the 70s.

Excellent book of reviews of western novels. I found lots of insight on novels I was already familiar with and a whole lot of information on books I didn't know ( but will now have to buy!).Any book that gives full marks to Ernest Haycox's Trail Town knows what it's on about as far as I'm concerned.

Justin Marriott's name on any publication is always a sign of quality, and this book is no exception. A fantastic, well illustrated, collection of Western novels, Marriott and co's reviews are witty, insightful and packed with information.A real labour of love, this is an absolute must have if you love the Western genre.

Really enjoyable read. Lots of interesting reviews on books you don't have to have read to enjoy. Also nice to see the covers reprinted albeit in black and white. My only complaint is that there are some reviews that seem out of place such as the Judge Dredd one.

Whatever your taste in westerns you'll find some of your favourites in this collection and discover many more authors that you’ll want to try. Lavishly illustrated with black and white cover images this professionally produced fanzine is a must have for all fans of the genre. It's a book you'll be wanting to dip into time and again.
