Perfect for 5 year old
I was trying to add some new books to my kids collection and stumbled across this. It's a great read, easy for parents and the whole story flows together nicely. The pictures are awesome and my kids love pointing out all the details. Highly recommended.

For kids who love fantasy and action AND reading
This book is wonderful! Brilliant word choices that bring this world to life and make us laugh out loud. My 3 y/o daughter is in love with Ronan As a character and has asked to read it daily since it arrived. She calls him the bad guy (Raiding barbarian) who's a good guy (a librarian). She loves the goat eating the books and his fuzzy boar slippers— the illustrations are fantastic with lots of little Easter egg surprises. UFF DA! Get this book! Would be a great book for reluctant readers who love action and adventure.

Rollicking Viking fun with powerful message!
Full of rhythm and puny cleverness, this tale of a new kind of Viking conquest will have little and big reader alike rolling in laughs and running to set up a library of their own! The perfect book for a resistant reader emphasizes the magic of literacy and its power to change a community and its culture for the better! It’s timely publication is perfect for staying at home with a stack of books or as the perfect addition to any school or public library!

A fun read and reminder about the importance of books
The text is engaging. The art is spot on with fun details to find. A fun take on the importance of literacy and libraries as Ronan trades his raiding for reading instead. Parents and educators can enjoy reading this as much as the children will enjoy listening to it. Great humor, with a subtle but important message.

Cute book!
Ok. I mostly bought it because of the title but it's a very sweet book about a raider who'd rather read than sack villages. It's a great way to convince stubborn kids that reading is cool.

Wonderful picture book for young audience
I read this during a story time to a group of 4 - 7 year old kids. They loved the story and pictures. The characters are not conventional, providing opportunities to describe vikings, raiding and treasures.
