Loved this book!
I loved Smothered! I hope there’s a sequel. I picked Smothered off of a summer reading list, thinking it would be a good poolside read. What I wasn’t expecting was to be stifling laughs, loud guffaws and holding my family court while I read sections out loud. Smothered touches all of my emotional chords, maybe because I’m a mom with adult-ish daughters. The heroine of the story, Lou, just graduated Columbia University and has moved back home to Los Angeles to figure out what’s next in her life/career. She is sweet, articulate, ambitious and determined to meet her goals. Her mother has these same qualities, however, her approach to life is much more over-the-top flamboyant and eccentric. This Mom likes to have fun! Their different approaches to life create hysterical situations, and one quickly realizes that Lou’s biggest project is managing her mother’s expectations and their widely different priorities. The story is told mostly through texts, tweets, documents and witty narration. It’s a quick read, really fun, with a poignant ending.

“Don’t spend your life waiting for perfect moments”
I could not over-exaggerate how phenomenal this novel is. It's such a creative vocalization of the painfully familiar millennial post-grad struggle toward a normal professional life, and a mother-daughter sentiment relatable to every loving parent staring empty-nester syndrome in the face. After laughing aloud on every other page and wiping away tears toward the end, I can confidently say that there is no better three hundred pages you could devour this summer 📖 Get your steps in to a local bean juice store and crack it open. It’ll make you feel more refreshed than a juice cleanse and a face peel. (Must read book for translation)

Loved it ~
I thoroughly enjoyed this ~ hysterically funny in parts and a poignant look at real life through the eyes of a freshly graduated college student in others, this first novel by author Autumn Chiklis hits ALL the buttons for a great summer read! So put your feet up, sip another "Shell-tini" and enjoy the ride of Lou Hansen and her crazy adorable family as Lou learns how to navigate life post-college while living through the trials and tribulations of moving back home.

Hilarious, fun read!
Smart, witty and laugh out loud funny, Smothered lampoons a millennial college graduate’s conundrums with an open heart and a tongue in cheek. The author clearly knows this world and it’s inhabitants, poking fun at them with a distinct flair and fantastic new literary voice. This is a quick and fun read that made me laugh throughout. Look for this title to be made into a film or tv series in the near future!

I enjoyed this book so much I bought several copies for friends and family. I highly recommend reading this little prize. Clever and sooooo funny! We can all relate in some way and it stirs up memories for me during my early 20's. It'll inspire you and we all know what's it like after graduating college. Cheers!!!
